Tumuaki Update
2 Tīhema 2022
Tēnā koutou katoa
The board is delighted to announce that Whaea Hayley May has accepted the role as Acting Tumuaki of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Whānau Tahi for 2023.
As the leader of our Wharekura (Tau 9-13) for the 6 years, Hayley has enabled our kura to achieve and maintain a 100% pass rate for NCEA as well as 100% success rate in the acquisition of university scholarship. She has lead our Wharekura to stand independently and autonomously on the regionals and national haka stages over the past few years - a first in the history of our kura, and as a result of her dedicated leadership, the role of our Wharekura has more than doubled since 2017. These are only a small handful of examples of the innovative and inspiring educational leadership that Hayley has contributed to our kura and community.
Hayley is committed to Te Aho Matua as a foundation for learning and teaching for our tamariki and cares deeply about our tamariki at Te Whānau Tahi. With her husband, Mark, who is also a passionate educator, she is the proud māmā of three amazing tama - Jackson (he raukura nō te kura), Nikau (Tau 7) and Kahu (Tau 5).
As we prepare to celebrate the leadership of Whaea Shar prior to her return to Te Arawa in late January, both Whaea Hayley and Whaea Shar are committed to work closely together over the next few months to ensure a smooth and seamless transition in preparation for Wāhanga 1 (Term 1) 2023.
Te Poari Matua o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Whānau Tahi are delighted Whaea Hayley has accepted the position of Acting Tumuaki for 2023 and we are committed to work alongside her over the coming months to ensure our kura continues to thrive. Kei te pītau whakareia o Te Wharekura, kāore e ārikarika ngā mihi ki a koe i tō kaha, i tō māia, otirā i tō hiki i tēnei mānuka o tātou. Haramai tētahi āhua!
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our aroha and endless gratitude to the amazing Whaea Shar for her exceptional leadership of our kura over the past few years, and wish to acknowledge the enormous contribution and dedication she has made to Te Whānau Tahi over the last decade, as both a passionate whānau member, and as an inspiring kaiako. Engari, ka waiho i te roanga o ngā mihi ki tana hui ngarenga hei tērā wiki.
Nāia kā mihi, nā
