Read Across America Week

East Albemarle will celebrate Read Across America Week, February 27th - March 3rd. This week aims to inspire individuals of all ages to read, and coincides with Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd. As you know, Dr. Seuss was a famous author who wrote many children's books. During Read Across America Week, we will celebrate reading with the following spirit days:

  • Monday - Team Up for Reading! Wear your favorite sports jersey or team colors!
  • Tuesday - Hats Off to Reading! Wear your favorite hat!
  • Wednesday - Reading JOGS the Mind! Wear your favorite exercise gear!
  • Thursday - Surfs Up for Reading! Wear Hawaiian print or {school appropriate} vacation attire!
  • Friday - PAWSitively Wild About Reading! Wear your EAES spirit shirts, school colors (blue & white), or your favorite animal print!

Participation in the Read Across America spirit week is optional, but encouraged! Student attire should still align with the Stanly County Schools dress code policy, including closed-toed shoes for recess, and be appropriate for the season / weather.

Student-Led Conferences - March 9th, 2023

Join us on March 9th, 5:00 - 7:00 pm for Student-Led Conferences! Your child's teacher will send home a formal invitation and RSVP form in the February 28th Tuesday folder. This event will provide an opportunity for your child to demonstrate their understanding of grade level content. They will work directly with you so it is very important that you plan to attend the conference!

Please RSVP for your child's Student-Led Conference! Third quarter parent / student / teacher conferences are mandatory; your attendance at this event will satisfy this requirement.

As an incentive for your participation, your child's classroom will be competing for a chance to win a March Madness basketball practice with the Albemarle High School Bulldog players! The three classes with the highest participation will win. Your child will definitely want their classroom to have the highest participation for the Student-Led Conference event!
