Unity Day
UNITY DAY: Together against bullying — united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Make it ORANGE and make it end! What are your true colors when it comes to bullying? If you care about safe and supportive schools and communities make your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That’s the day everyone can come together – in schools, communities, and online – and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Individuals across the nation, and even world-wide, can participate in Unity Day.
September Citizens of the Month Celebration
I had an amazing time on October 13 welcoming family members and honoring our September Citizens of the Month. Below are a few photos from the event. I invite you to attend future monthly celebrations so you can see our incredible students and happy family members. You wouldn't need to be there the entire time, just visit for a few minutes to see our Citizens of the Month and their family members. I'll be celebrating our October Citizens of the Month on Friday, November 11 and will need names from teachers by November 4. Thank you!

My October Read to Classes Book
For October, I'm reading "Gaston" to classes. This is the story of four puppies: Fi-Fi, Foo-Foo, Ooh-La-La, and Gaston. Gaston works the hardest at his lessons on how to be a proper pooch. He sips - never slobbers! He yips - never yaps! And he walks with grace - never races! A principal friend recommended this book as a read aloud to classes and it's already become one of my favorites!
PTO Family Fun Night
Thank you to the 19 staff members who signed up to volunteer at the PTO Family Fun Night. If you are able to volunteer but did not sign up yet, please see Kristi and she can give you the link to the document. What costume will Mr. French wear?
I'll Be Out Wednesday, October 19
I'll be attending and facilitating the state legislature created Student Discipline Working Group the afternoon of Wednesday, October 19, 2016. At this meeting, we'll be learning about schools and districts that have reduced suspensions and increased student achievement as well as learning about preventative programs such as PBIS, Restorative Practices, and Social and Emotional Learning.
