Early Learners Highlights
January 21, 2022
Dear Early Learners Families,
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to watch one of our pre-k classrooms explore the concept of measurement with some newly introduced measuring tapes. While the excitement over the magical button that could be pressed to quickly roll the measuring tape back up definitely took over the first few minutes, each student quickly jumped into exploring and measuring different items around the classroom. Our students were completely engaged in building their math skills and vocabulary through play. These facilitated learning opportunities are key for our youngest learners to build their early academic and language skills. We encourage you to continue this learning at home! Check out this link for some counting ideas, or this link to keep the fun going with some measurement ideas!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Janet
What's Happening in Early Learners?
This week some of the classes continued to focus on community helpers such as mail carriers and medical professionals. While others got a head start on our upcoming winter theme with the winter Olympics.
After the success of our community helper interviews the past few weeks, the students got to add a physical therapist and a firefighter to the list of zoom visits. These interviews gave us a great opportunity to develop our questioning skills, adding details and clarifying.
We had a blast culminating our community helpers unit with our "When I Grow Up Day" and look forward to jumping into our winter unit next week!
