This is where you need to be smart!
It is very easy to be deceiving on the Internet!
Rules to be Safe on the Internet
What NOT To Share On The Internet
- your full name
- your address
- schedule/activities (ex. sports practices and times, when you get out of school, what you're doing over the weekend)
- the school you attend
- certain photos
What's In A Name?
Do Not Include:
- name
- birthday
- location/address
Trust Your Gut!
You may have similar interests, and feel you "know" this person because you talk to them often, but you still can never be 100% sure they are begin 100% honest!
If you get a "weird feeling" from this person, or they begin to ask you personal questions that make you feel uneasy;
LISTEN TO YOUR GUT!
You should get a parent involved if the person is asking you questions that are inappropriate or have nothing to do with the conversations you've had in the past.
Never give your address to people you know from the Internet!
There are privacy controls you can activate for your account on these social networking sites; Become familiar with them & USE THEM!
You can also block and report people who are bothering you!
