Returning Student Registration Forms

Please remember to fill out the Returning Student Registration Forms if you have not already done so! In addition to updating contact and health information, this is where you give permission for your child to attend field trips and have their picture displayed for school purposes (yearbook, newsletters, etc).

In the next few days, you will receive an emailed Adobe form packet from Lago Vista ISD Registration. Please complete all forms in their entirety. If you have multiple students enrolled in Lago Vista ISD, you will receive registration forms for each student.

PLEASE NOTE: Adobe will auto-generate a daily reminder email until the form packet is submitted. Forms will expire 7 days after sending.

For questions related to student registration and enrollment or if you do not receive a returning student form packet by Monday, please contact the campus of enrollment at (512) 267-8300.

Thank you for helping us keep distractions to a minimum by leaving mums/garters home on Friday, September 22nd!

Watch DOG Kick-off Event

We are excited to have the Watch DOG program back again for the 2017-2018 school year. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for dads, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers to be a positive male role model for our Vikings by being an extra set of hands, eyes and ears in the classrooms and on campus. There will be an informational session on September 20th at 8:15 am for those interested in serving as a Watch DOG this year. Reservation forms will go home soon in Friday folders with more information.

We LOVE having Watch DOGs at LVES and can't wait to have them back!

PK/Kinder Hearing and Vision Screening - Thursday, September 20th

All PK and Kindergarten students will have their vision and hearing checked on Thursday, September 20th. If your child wears glasses, please make sure that he/she wears them to school on Thursday.

Running of the Vikings - September 22nd

If your child wants to be a part of Running of the Vikings on Friday, an announcement will be made at 6:55 pm for students to go on the field. Cheerleaders will line students up by grade levels and have signs for each grade. Participants will exit the tunnel at precisely 7:10 pm, so please be on time. Your child will not need to wear a Running of the Viking t-shirt OR have a special pass to run - just head to the field and line up when the announcement is made at 6:55 pm.

Box Tops Contest

It's time to start our first Box Top Contest of the new school year. The prize will be a pajama and furry friend day for the top 3 classes who submit the most box tops. The contest started Sept. 11th and runs through Nov. 10th. Please make sure to send your student's box tops to the classroom. Your student's teacher will submit all the box tops at the end of the contest so they can be counted and the winners announced. Last year we raised $631 with the Box Tops for Education Program. Our lifetime earnings total is $18,477. Thank you for your support!

UIL 2018 Pep Rally

It's almost that time of year to form UIL teams for the 2018 UIL District Meet on January 26, 2018 in Florence. We were District Champs last year and want to make it a repeat in January. UIL events are open to any 2nd - 5th grader. To kick things off we will have a Pep Rally on September 27th during 2nd and 3rd grade lunches. Our awesome UIL Coordinator, Cathy Evans, will be there to talk about the different events and introduce coaches. 2nd and 3rd graders who are interested in trying out for one of the UIL events will be able to sign up after the Pep Rally. More information will come home in Friday folders on September 22nd.

Each week we will get know members of our amazing staff from the students' perspectives!

Mrs. Chelsey Jimenez - Second Grade

1. Where are you from originally?

I was born and raised in Abilene, TX where I also attended college at McMurry University.

After college I moved to San Angelo for my first teaching job. After my first year of teaching we followed my husband's dream job to Lago Vista, where we have been for 3 years.

2. How long have you been teaching?

This is my 5th year of teaching and my 3rd year at Lago Vista Elementary, I have taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten. :)

3. Tell us about your family...

I have been married for almost 3 years to my amazing husband, Marco. He is a physical therapist at LVPT and loves what he does. We have two adorable fur babies, Remi our 2 year old bloodhound and Ruger our 3 year old Manchester Terrier.

4. What do you like to do for fun and do you like legos?

In my spare time I love fixing up our house, camping, finding new adventures, playing sports, baking, and spending time with my family. Of course I love legos, I mean who doesn't right?:)

5. What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part about teaching is waking up every day and loving what I do. I get to teach kids every day and help create a part of who they are going to be when they get older. In my opinion there is no better feeling then having these little humans love you and look up to you like they do.

Alida Lash - PE Paraprofessional

1. How long have you worked in Lago Vista?

2. Where are you from originally?

Guatemala, which is a country in Central America.

3. Tell us about your family...

Married for 23 years to my husband Doug, who I met skydiving. We have two kids. Our son and daughter are Lago Vista born and raised. Nick is in the Air Force and Monica is an Aggie.

4. What are your favorite hobbies?

Traveling and planning trips either for me or anyone who wants me to help them plan a trip, reading, going to the lake, exercising and recently started yoga.

5. What is your favorite part of your job?

I love everything about my job, but seeing the kiddos in the morning when they get out of their cars with their happy faces is awesome.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! I have enjoyed learning about the different responsibilities our students have as we have been talking about the character trait of Responsibility. It is important for children to understand that showing responsibility at home, school, and with friends also shows that they are trustworthy and dependable. What kinds of opportunities have you given your child to help them learn about and show responsibility?

I also want to make sure all of our families are aware of the Old Farm Community Center Food Pantry. This local resource is stocked with lots of wonderful free food for anyone in the community. Some items include fresh fruits, vegetables, frozen meats, beverages, baked goods, and even dog food. They are open on Saturday at noon and are located at 3500 Lohman Ford Road in Lago Vista. Help spread the word to families who may need to know!
