Room 11 News
February 28 - April 3, 2017
Integrated Learning
We are beginning our study of authors. We will focus on Rosemary Wells, Todd Parr and Dr. Seuss. We will start by learning about Rosemary Wells and read the books Max Cleans Up, Bunny Cakes and Bunny Party. We will practice cleaning up by sorting and working together to clean up after Max makes a surprise visit and messes up the room! When we read Bunny Cakes, we will get to make Max's dirt cake. We will also have our own bunny party and play games and do the "Bunny Pokey." A few activities include:
- Toy Box Pin Punch
- Ant Addition
- Initial letter sounds fill in the blank with cake ingredients
- Favorite character graph
Today is Fat Tuesday! We are celebrating with King Cake and Mardi Gras themed centers. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Science and Gardens
This month in science we will be wrapping up our Fabric unit. The children have been working so hard on their weavings and we are almost finished. When the weavings are complete, we will focus on getting fabric dirty and then clean. We will discuss how some things stain and how others can be washed out. After that the children will have a chance to dye their fabric using natural dyes.
We will plant kale this week! We are working with Gretchen Pollom and Cara Hicks on ways to keep the bunnies away.
