They earned:

And they were the Grand Champions of the entire competition, earning the highest score out of ALL of the bands in all ALL the classes.

Upcoming Bond Information
We have exciting news for all GSD Community!
This summer, the Gibraltar School District Board of Education has approved placing a no tax-rate increase bond proposal on the November 7th ballot. Voter approval of the bond proposal will not increase residents' current tax rate.
The $81.5 million no-tax-rate increase bond proposal is designed to improve the learning environment and update the interior and exterior of school buildings.
The bond proposal will allow the school district to make improvements in five key areas:
1. enhancing elementary educational programming;
2. enhancing student safety and security;
3. improving the learning environment;
4. expanding arts, athletics, and play areas; and,
5. addressing aging facility infrastructure and increasing building efficiencies.

PSAT Fall Testing
Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will be taking the PSAT NMSQT on October 26th. This is an important test that allows students to potentially earn scholarships. Beyond getting a baseline for their performance on the test in the spring, this test that will be offered digitally for the first time for all grades. Having students participate now will allow us to determine what needs we have building wide to ensure the test in the spring runs smoothly and it will allow us to identify what supports students might need.
A few quick (and important) things:
1.) Tests start on time - it's extremely important that students plan to get to school on time this day (regardless of an online class or not)
2.) Students need a valid ID for admittance to the test
3.) Students should have a charged chromebook and their chromebook charger in order to take the test. Those who don't have it will NOT be able to take the test.
4.) Students will do all preparation for this in their English classes next week.
5.) Seniors should be scheduling career and college visits for this day if they are not planning to work as scheduled with counselors on post-secondary planning in the cafeteria.
Wishing and Planning = Same Energy
The Importance of a Post-Secondary Plan
- Increases motivation in high school
- Increases employment rate after high school
- Increases connection and individualization in high school class choices
- Increases likelihood of college or trade school acceptance
- Decreases the level of overwhelm students feel as they approach high school graduation
You Don't Have to Have it All Figured Out
Sometimes the most overwhelming aspect of developing a plan is the idea that students have to have it all figured out. At CHS, we have many tools to help students determine areas of interest including our counselors, career exploration through the Downriver Career Technical Consortium, military/college visits, and access to Xello planning software. Beyond this, it's not too early to begin thinking about the basics:
- What are my interests?
- What am I good at? (Where do I excel?)
- What do I know I definitely don't want to do?
- Where do I want to live?
- How important are the following to the kind of life I imagine (money, activities, friends, family, etc.)?
