Eiber's Adventure Update
August 24th, 2022
Welcome to our 2022-2023 School Year!
We are so happy to have our new and returning Eiber Eagles in-person and be able to see their smiling faces. It has been great to see all of our students and staff excited and ready for an amazing year of learning! We look forward to seeing our Eiber families back in the school, participating in school events, volunteering and our new parent coffees! We believe that communication is key to a successful educational experience. Each Wednesday, we will be sending out communication in the form of an email or a newsletter just like this one that will contain information, links and reminders.
Please take some time to read through all of the information below. It contains important news and dates regarding your student.
Wednesday Folders
We will be continuing sending communication home in folders once a week. We will be moving our send home day to Wednesdays this year! Please make sure to look in your child's backpack on Wednesdays for important information from their teacher and the school. Please return their folders in their backpacks, with any important paperwork signed, so that their teachers can prepare them for the next week!
Assessment Days
There will be no regular classes on Friday, August 26th and Monday, August 29th so that teachers may have time to complete individual student assessments. If you have not heard from your child’s teacher already, please keep a lookout for information from the teacher. It may come in your child’s Wednesday folder. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.
Please Welcome our new School Based Therapist!
The Jefferson Center is once again partnering with our school to provide access to mental health services for our Eiber students and their families. Lets give a big Eiber welcome to our new School Based therapist, Cassie Smart. Please open the attached letter from Ms. Smart to read more about her and what her role at Eiber will be!
Family Engagement News!
Hello Eiber families! My name is Maria Beken and I am excited to begin my second year as your Family Engagement Liaison (FEL) at Eiber. My main role as your FEL is to be the bridge between families and school staff to help strengthen the home-school connection. I am here to connect and collaborate with you, your child, your child’s teacher and our community partners to help support your family and your child’s academic success.
When families are engaged in their child’s education, students show an improvement in many areas including: behavior, social skills, test scores, attendance and just their overall feelings about school. I hope to make you feel welcome at Eiber and play an active role in your family’s engagement with your child's academic journey.
This will be my 7th year working for Jeffco. I am also a Jeffco parent, as I have two children that are currently Jeffco students. I am originally from Arizona, but absolutely love living in beautiful Colorado. I look forward to getting to know you and your children! Please do not hesitate to stop by my office or contact me with any questions.

Help your child do well in school! Try a new idea every day!
Here are a couple of suggestions on things you can try with your child every day to help them do well in school!
- Establish a regular time for your child to do schoolwork. Choose the time together
- Turn chores into a game. Give each task a number and have your child roll a die to get an assigment
- Ask what your child is most looking forward to this school year
SchoolCafé
Since lunches will no longer be free to all students this year, families are encouraged to complete the application for meal benefits. All students with a prior year “Free” or “Reduced” status keeps their status for 30 school days into the new school year, allowing time to resubmit a new application for the current school year. If you still need to apply for Free or Reduced lunch, you can find the application on the SchoolCafe site or at this link:
https://www.schoolcafe.com/JEFFCOSD
A full lunch costs $3.25. You can add money to your child's account directly on the SchoolCafe website or send cash/check in with your student. A la carte purchases can be made by students. The prices for these items are listed on the SchoolCafe site. Families that would like to limit their students’ purchase of à la carte offerings may indicate their choice using their SchoolCafé account or by printing and completing the A la Carte Opt Our Form (attached below) and returning it to our school cafeteria manager.
Just as a reminder that being approved for free or reduced lunch has many benefits for you as well as Eiber. Schools receive important funding and resources based on the number of free and reduced applications. If you are eligible for free or reduced lunch, other fees may also be waived or reduced, including bus fees, technology fees, instrument fees and field trip fees.
Please reach out to Maria Beken at 303-982-4853 if you need assistance with the application process.
5th Grade Band and Orchestra
We have some very exciting news for your child and all of our fifth graders.
Many of you know that fifth graders have an opportunity to participate in band and orchestra. This programming is often supported by participation fees and sometimes rental fees for instruments. The fifth-grade teachers, Mr. Larsen, and Mr. Wood worked with me to develop a plan that would allow all students to participate in band and orchestra this school year. Students will have an opportunity to choose an instrument and then learn how to play throughout the year. Band or orchestra class will be scheduled just like any other class
There are many benefits that coincide with students learning to play an instrument. Our hope is that many of them find another activity that they love and that they will continue with through middle school and high school, and possibly into their adult lives.
It is important for you to know that any families/children who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch would have these fees waived. If you have not yet completed your School Cafe application, please do so in the next couple of days, so we can ensure the correct budget for this amazing opportunity!
Your 5th grader received an important document explaining instrument rental night.
If you have any questions or need the registration link, please contact
Bus Transportation
Students that intend to ride the bus must be registered to ride, including students whose bus fees are waived. Please see the district's Bus Fees & Route Information page for pricing and registration directions. You will need your child's student number to register. If your child does not remember their number, please contact the school and we will happily give it to you.
