Mrs. Dufresne's Second Grade
January 26 - 30th, 2015
We are reading "Jamaica Louise Jones" this week in Reading.
Our unit in math is working on money and two digit subtraction. I really appreciate all the help that you have been giving your students at home with their math. It's fun to see their different approaches to two digit subtraction. Right now we are focusing on when to regroup and when to not regroup. Our class is also madly doing math facts to gain some ground on the Mustang Million math facts challenge!
In Science, we are beginning a unit on the Solar System. We are learning about all the planets and will start some art projects this week as well!

We are always appreciate Clorox Wipes and whole class snacks - if you see a good sale, we would appreciate you sending some with your student! With all the bugs going around, some hand sanitizer would be appreciated too (or feel free to send an individual container with your student if you want).
Please remember to send your child with a warm coat, boots and shoes to change into, mittens, and a hat. We have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays - please make sure they have good PE shoes on those days!
Reyna is enjoying her "Read to Self" time with some stuffed animals. Thank you for continuing your 20 minutes a night of reading with your students! We recently completed a reading screening and I am thrilled with the results!
The kids love to use the Osmo and the iPad for Word Work. Damien and Braydon are playing "versus" - it can get a little competitive!
We used the iPads on Thursday to research the Solar System.
