Prof. Help for Mental Disorders
Unit 2 Project
Why would you need therapy?
Therapy can help with many mental disorders. There's multiple kinds of therapy. These types include; psychotherapy, behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and drug therapy. Each has it's own way of dealing with others' problems.
If a mental disorder goes untreated, it can lead to depression, lost of sanity, your life, or the life of others. Professional help can prevent each.
Group Therapy
Treating a group of people who have similar problems and who meet regularly with a trained counselor.
Psychotherapy
An ongoing dialogue between a patient and a mental health professional. The dialogue is designed to find the cause of a problem and devise a solution.
Drug Therapy
The use or certain medications to treat or reduce the symptoms of a mental disorder.
Behavior Therapy
A treatment process that focuses on changing unwanted behaviors through rewards and reinforcements.
Cognitive Therapy
A treatment method designed to identify and correct distorted thinking patterns that can lead to feelings and behaviors that may be troublesome.
Family Therapy
Helping the family function in more positive and constructive ways by exploring patterns in communication and providing support and education.
This technique is one of the most successful if every family member attends.
