SY21 TCES Family Issue #13

Big picture

November 9, 2020

Hello TCES Community,

While we are sad and disappointed that SMCPS is pausing in-person instruction this week, we know the data-based decision was made in the interest of safety. In case you missed it, Dr. Smith's letter is linked here: LTR_SUPT_OnlineNov8_11082020.pdf. "We will continue to work daily with the St. Mary's Health Department and follow their advice. We urge everyone to do the same. An update will be provided mid-week and we are hopeful that the trend we currently see will reverse. It is up to each one of us to make that happen."

Our kindergarten and first-grade students did an outstanding job following all of our safety expectations last week. Way to go, Terrapins! It was wonderful to have you back.

Stay healthy and hopeful,

Lindsay Brenfleck

TCES Diversity & Equity Updates

A Message from our TCES EDEAL:

As a county, and more specifically as a school, we are striving to recognize the different cultures of the people who make up our school and community. This past month, many classes learned about "Day of the Dead." Here are some photos of what our students learned and completed in the month of October!

-Keonna Jones, TCES Education Diversity Equity Achievement Leader (EDEAL)

Big picture

Kudos to our own Ms. Jones for leading us in exploring and

and learning more about cultures that are different from our own!

Lunch from Home Help

Will you open this for me?

In the interest of safety, our lunchroom monitors are unable to open food items for our students. Here's how you can help!

For items that are difficult for your student to open:

  • Practice opening items with your child at home
  • Repackage the item
  • Start the corner so the item is still closed, but can be more easily opened
