KASC's Feedback & Strategies
#1 Analyze Work and Learn from the Results
ex. "Often we want to just move on after we finish an assignment, but there's so much to be learned from reviewing what we did right and wrong, so I want to..."
Pick a strategy to fit the students and the work:
1A. Guide student in analyzing what was successful/unsuccessful and why
1B. Provide a model for analyzing work without teacher guidance (small groups and individually)
1C. Plan time for meaningful wrong-answer analysis with allowance for misconceptions to be corrected
#2 Break Down Exemplars and Criteria
Pick a strategy to fit the students and the work:
2A. Comparing student work to the scoring criteria with a focus on one criterion at a time
2B. Comparing student work to exemplary models in order to make improvements
2C. Graphic organizers to scaffold improvement efforts
- Checklist using scoring criteria (model for students how to check each part)
- Outlines/frames breaking down each part of a task to make the work more manageable
#3 Provide Other Alternatives for Mastering a Missed Concept
Pick a strategy to fit the students and the work:
3A. Demonstrations, examples, and reteaching as feedback on missed concepts
3B. Visual aids for relearning: Illustrations, drawings, diagrams, manipulatives, photos, etc.
3C. Meaningful connections--pop culture; stories; songs; metaphors/analogies; everyday examples
3D. Different instructional materials at a lower reading level or with a different approach/perspective
#4 Analyze the Learning Process
Pick a strategy to fit the students and the work:
4A. Outline of the learning process; students (and/or teacher) see where more/different effort might have changed the outcome
4B. Thought process necessary to complete steps and finish an assignment
4C. Step-by-step models of how to approach a task or assignment; have students check-in after each step
4D. Identification of a study/work skill to strengthen; collaboration on improvement steps and a goal
