5th Graders Attend Lizzie Sider Concert at FLHS!
Lizzie Sider, the American singer/songwriter and founder of the bully prevention non-profit organization, Nobody Has The Power To Ruin Your Day, returned to Fair Lawn schools on Monday for the first of a three-show assembly at Fair Lawn High School. Sider has personally brought her bully prevention assembly to more than 400 schools throughout the country.
“You have the power,” Sider, 20, told the audience. “You have the power to spread kindness, and hope, and light.”
Lyncrest 5th Graders, along with students from Paramus and Glen Rock schools, enthusiastically sang, cheered, and at times danced along during the assembly. Fair Lawn students proudly waved their handmade ‘butterflies” on a popsicle stick during the show. Sider’s song “Butterfly,” her signature single, is based on standing up to bullies. Sider said she was bullied in school growing up in Florida.
T.J. Middle School staff wrote to Sider in 2017 and said they had been impacted by Sider’s message and were incorporating it into their school culture. Sharon Bragin, Character Counts! Facilitator at T.J. Middle School extended that invite again to Sider in 2018.
“It was one the of the first places I wanted to return to on my Lizzie Sider Concert Tour!” said Sider.
At this year’s performance, Fair Lawn Mayor Kurt Peluso presented Sider, along with Superintendent Nick Norcia, with a proclamation for her efforts to promote bully prevention, kindness, friendship, teamwork, and encouragement to Fair Lawn. Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 is now officially “Lizzie Sider Day” in Fair Lawn.

Adenoviruses are common viruses that cause a range of illness, including cold-like symptoms, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhea and pink eye.
Adenoviruses can cause mild to severe illness, though serious illness is less common. Adenovirus can cause illness in persons of any age. People with weakened immune systems, or existing respiratory or cardiac disease, are at higher risk of developing severe illness from an adenovirus infection.

Symptoms of Adenovirus disease usually appear 2-14 days after exposure.
How is Adenovirus Transmitted?
Adenoviruses are usually spread from an infected person to others through
· close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands
· the air by coughing and sneezing
· touching an object or surface with adenoviruses on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands
Some adenoviruses can spread through an infected person’s stool.
If you think you have symptoms of Adenovirus disease, contact your healthcare provider.

Peachjar ~ Electronic Flyers
Beginning October 1st, Fair Lawn School District will launch a new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved Digital flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on Lyncrest's website homepage.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
No action is required on your part. You will receive a welcome email from our service provider (Peachjar) that includes a username and password. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school digital flyers.
To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts. When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
