Musing Minds 2015-2016
April 15, 2016
The 5th Grade will take a field trip to Stone Mountain on Friday, April 29th. We'll tour the museum, enjoy the 4D movie, and play in the Great Barn. Please be sure to return the permission form by April 15th. If you use MyPaymentsPlus for payment, you automatically give your child permission.
Please submit your child's baby picture for the 5th grade slideshow to firstname.lastname@example.org. To allow the volunteer enough time to create the slideshow, there is an April 15th deadline.

Life is about to get busy and exciting for your 5th grader. There are lots of special events scheduled for the last weeks of elementary school. During our busiest times, I send out daily e-mails and text messages to let you know what to expect and to bring the next day of school. If you prefer texts to e-mails, please be sure to sign up for our Remind101 service (if you haven't already). Click the link below to join.
Gwin Oaks has some exciting items up for bid. Would you like a front row seat to our May award ceremonies? What about the 5th grade promotion ceremony at Grace Church? How about a VIP parking spot for SpringFest? Click on the link to bid today!
Please mark your calendars for Springfest 2016. April 22, 6:00-8:30. Our fabulous PTA has organized an incredible event. Games, Food Vendors, and Fun Galore! If you're coming, plan on taking the shuttle from the Nam Dae Mun/Sonic parking lot.
And the fun continues the very next day. Brookwood High School is partnering with The Amanda Riley Foundation to host the first annual Spring Carnival 4 A Cause. Read more here http://www.amandarileyfoundation.org/carnival-4-a-cause.
Please be sure the read Ms. Pugh's letter (attached to the e-mail )regarding your 5th grader's Career Day presentation on May 6th.
Think that your 5th grader is too old for a read-aloud? Think again! Reading aloud to older children has many benefits, such vocabulary development, the opportunity for important conversations, and inspiring a love of learning. My middle-schooler and I read aloud regularly, and they are some of our favorite moments.
