Playmakers Kindergarten Classroom Newsletter Month of May

Dear Families Letter Home

I hope this letter finds you well. I was sitting with all the kids last week and I said out loud: " This will be the only moment in time that we will all be together just like this." and it kind of sunk in to my heart after I said that. These days are numbered. . not just in this school year but also in life. I believe that being a teacher of young children has made me a more authentic person and for that I am grateful. How easy it is to forget to stop, and see and really feel gratitude for what we have in this life. I am grateful for all of you and your lovely children.

It is my hope that you have found some small value from these monthly newsletters. Maybe a quote that inspired you, a link to an article that revealed something to you, or a window into what we have been doing in the classroom.

You can expect to receive the last newsletter of this school year in June. The Schedule for parent conferences will be sent out in the next few days. Please sign up when you have a moment.

With well wishes,

I recently was reading some research on the brain and was searching for some supporting evidence on this topic. While doing so I found the beautiful website of Maggie Dent.

She has some practical tools and skills which she calls

Common Sense Parenting

Here is the link to her website if you are interested. I found it to be a refreshing resource to have.

Does the experiment change with varying levels of water?

What do you predict will happen? Here is a sample of this experiment you can do at home.

Dr. Lilian Katz: What Should Children Be Learning? | 92Y Parenting & Family

A Brilliant Woman, I highly recommend this video.

This video is an hour long but it is well worth watching.

Dr. Lillian Katz not only has expertise but her stories are relevant for both educators and parents.
