We are excited to start a new year at Miller Grove FFA! Next week, we will begin to show case our 2019-2020 Miller Grove FFA Officers, and our updated website is almost ready to go. We are excited for a year full of showing livestock , trailer & smoker build offs , livestock judging , ag mech projects, leadership contests and floral design !!!

FFA State Convention "Illuminate Texas"

The Miller Grove FFA Officers attended the FFA State Convention in Fort Worth, TX this summer. They attended a leadership workshop, general sessions, and voted in the 2019-2020 State Officer Elections! It was a fun-filled, week-long trip to cow town!

Our first monthly FFA meeting will be Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:00 pm in the MG Ag Shop! We will have lots of information for students and parents about the FFA events this year! Come early and eat nachos with your friends!

Leadership Development Events (LDE's)

Leadership Development Events focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

There are lots of opportunities for students to compete in LDE contests. The potential is endless! Sign-up sheets are in the Ag classroom. This is the year of YES! You never know where the year will take you, unless you just say yes!

Animal Shopping

Shopping is underway for PIGS, SHEEP, GOATS, HEIFERS, STEERS, & CHICKENS! If you need assistance finding a livestock project, let Mrs. Martin know! kmartin@mgisd.net

Northeast Texas Livestock Association Show - February 27-29, 2020

Quality Counts

**REMINDER** If you are going to show a livestock project at any major show or NETLA, you must have an up-to-date Quality Counts number PRIOR to turning in entries and/or tag-in.


Exhibitors only need to be verified once as a Junior (grades 3-5), once as an Intermediate (grades 6-8), and once as a Senior (grades 9-12).


If your child moved up a division, they will need to renew their QC number. For more info, see Mrs. Martin. Don't wait until the last minute to complete this.

County Steer Tag-In & Heifer Validation

OCTOBER 19th is the NETLA steer tag-in & state heifer validation at 6-7 pm @ Cattlemens Vet Clinic. This will be COUNTY ONLY steers and STATE/COUNTY heifers.

Calf Scrambles

Participating in a calf scramble is a fun way to get money for a livestock project! If you catch a calf in the calf scramble, you can win a certificate for $500-1750! If you are interested in calf scrambles at Heart of Texas (Waco), San Antonio Stock Show, Fort Worth Stock Show and Houston, let Mrs. Martin know.
