Three students represented MRHS at the Engaging Youth in Voter Participation Workshop at Cape Cod Community College on Friday, October 20. Cesca Barr, Livia Graham, and Ted Clifford were among the ~30 participants from across the Cape who brainstormed ideas for how to increase registration and voting rates amount young people. They developed several proposals which they will try to implement this year. Thanks to the League of Women Voters for the Cape Cod Area for sponsoring the event.
Thank you Mr. Dickson for attending with students!

LET'S TALK! MRHS's 1st Shark "THINK" Tank Forum: Rethinking School
Our students, families, staff, administration and community have worked together over the last three years to set a clear Vision, Mission, Core Values/Beliefs and 21st Century Learning Expectations to guide our goal of moving our school from good to GREAT. We have celebrated many successes together and pride ourselves as being an innovative and forward thinking district.
We'd like to continue the collaborative conversation with ALL of you on November 2, 2017 at 6pm (library) in a forum open to ALL students, families, staff and community members. This will be the first in a series of forums to share what we value in our children's education, hear first hand from our students, and answer the following question:
What do you believe about how children learn most powerfully and deeply in their lives? Not just you personally, but what do you believe as a school community?
Hope to see you in November!

Cam Jones volunteered his lunch time to assist a fellow student with a minor car repair (see picture above). Ms. Police witnessed the event and stated "I witnessed our school culture first hand today. Sharks helping sharks. It was awesome! We really do have the BEST KIDS!
I'd like to recognize Jon Bennett for his dedication to his students and one in particular who received his high school diploma this week. The student told Jon, "Without you, I never could have done it." Jon was so happy and said this is what makes it all worthwhile.
Awesome moment to see.
Ms. Casey
Shark Shout Out
We would like to send a shout out to all the parents and students who helped the Class of 2021 with our first major event of the year. We had more than 15 parents and 20 students during the event or behind the scenes! It was very successful and the class is truly appreciative for the parental assistance!
Thanks,
Kelly Terrenzi and Kathy Vagenas

Sports Weekly Update by Connor Santoni
This week was an eventful week for Monomoy Athletics. The Monomoy Sharks football team made history. On Friday the 13th, the Sharks football team took the field knowing that they could be remembered as the first football team in Monomoy School history to make playoffs. But the Sacred Heart Saints made the Sharks fight for it. The Sharks scored on the first Drive with a Touchdown pass from Junior Isaac Hart to Senior Jake Wisniewski to take the early lead. The Saints showed their power and strength by scoring shortly after Monomoy. A series of 3 and outs happened for both teams ending the first quarter 8-8. Isaac Hart broke out for a long touchdown run and the Sharks were ignited. The defense did not let up another touchdown for the rest of the game. The final score was 14-8 Monomoy Sharks, making history by qualifying for the State Tournament for the first time. On Monday the field hockey team faced off against Falmouth, through a hard fought game where the scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort, the Sharks lost 3-1. The boys and girls soccer teams both played Nauset on a cold Monday night, the girls were home under the lights. The Warriors scored in the first 10 minutes making the score 1-0, and an own goal made the score 2-0 in the first half. The Sharks defense would shut them out for the rest of the game making the final score 2-0. The boys soccer team had a very rough night, playing the powerhouse team on the Cape, Nauset Warriors. The boys would end up losing 8-0. Boys golf came away with another big win, 109-43 against Rising tide to improve to 13-3 on the season. On Tuesday the boys golf team had a nail biter against SJP; the boys would end up losing 97-96. Cross Country’s win streak extended to 6 when they beat Rising Tide. Wednesday the field hockey team faced off against Bishop Fenwick, the Sharks had an early lead when Senior Captain Emma Mawn scored. Bishop Fenwick evened the score shortly after, and went on to win 2-1. Thursday the boys soccer team had their senior night on the MAC at 7. They beat Cape Cod Academy 7-1 with a complete team effort. Field hockey also came away with the win, shutting out the Nantucket Whalers, 3-0. Congratulations to Monomoy Boys Basketball Coach Keith Arnold, as he was named Division 4 South Coach of the Year in 2017.

Save A Life Tour Visits Monomoy
Dear Harwich Faculty and teachers of 11th and 12th graders;
I extend my heartfelt gratitude for allowing your kids to take part in Monday’s Save-A-Life Tour.
The presentation, which focused on impaired and distracted driving, made a huge impact on our students. I know that it’s a lot to ask to take them away from academics and their other commitments, so I want you to know how much it is appreciated when an event like this takes them briefly out of class. Thank you for your patience and for all the incredible work you do.
Best regards,
Sheila House
