Newsletter Week 7 Term 4

Turua School 1st December 2022

The end of the year is fast approaching and tonight we have the first of our end of year events with the Wearable Arts evening. Next week our seniors head off to their CARE Day at Rainbows End and the juniors spend the day at the Te Aroha Hotpools. Please make sure your payments and consent forms have all been forwarded to school.

Our Board is currently looking for a lawnmowing contractor as the Council are pulling out of our contract. If you can recommend a contractor please contact us at school or talk to one of our Board members. We would greatly appreciate it.

Our last meeting was on Monday 28 November, where we were updated on progress towards getting the school hall remediation underway. Tenders for this work close this Friday 2 December.

Thanks to those whānau who have completed our form with feedback on how you can get involved in our school. There will be a further opportunity to complete this form at the school’s Wearable Arts event on Thursday this week. Board members will also be at this event to collect your views to inform the 2023 Annual Plan. Please consider how you’d like the school to communicate with you; education outside the classroom; and what you’d like the school’s priorities to be for 2023. A reminder that you can view the Board of Trustee Meeting Minutes for each month at the school office.

Despite the changeable weather – Summer is on the way! We’ve heard the school pool will open during the holidays from 11th January. Pool keys will be available to purchase at the school office from Wednesday 7th December for $50.

Our final meeting for 2022 will be held on 12 December at 2.30pm in the school staff room. As we near the end of Term 4, we’d like to thank our Principal, teachers, school staff and volunteers for their hard work and commitment to our tamariki this year. Closing out the school year is a busy and exciting time, and we hope you enjoy the Wearable Arts celebration, Leavers’ Dinner and school prizegiving. For dates, check out the calendar on the Turua School App (link at the end of this newsletter).

Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

A big thank you to the Junior Kerepehi Brass Band who performed for us last Friday.
