School of Saint Mary FYI

October 13, 2021

Notes from Mrs. Maricle

1. MAP Growth Assessment: The first round of assessments are complete. Family reports are coming home tonight. Please remember, this just gives us a starting point. We are very happy with the results!

2. Virtus Lesson: Every year the Diocese of Tulsa asks all Catholic schools cover information with students that will give them the tools they need to keep safe. This information includes safe and unsafe behaviors, healthy relationships and setting boundaries. The material is developmentally appropriate for each age group and includes content and activities that reinforce the message. An overview of the program is attached to this FYI and this year, we will be presenting lessons 5 on October 28th and Lesson 6 on February 24. If you would like more information or would like to opt your student/s out of the lessons, please contact Pat Kimmel at

3. HELP NEEDED: We are looking for great people to help the School of Saint Mary. Please see details below. Those interested should contact the front office.

COVID-19 Updates

Updates are in BOLD.

Week of October 11th, 2021-

0 NEW student or staff positives

0 NEW students or staff in quarantine

*Note: These statistics are for PS-8th Grade.

We are beginning to open up our community some as the numbers of COVID are settling down. We have started outdoor activities with buddies and next week, we are welcoming parents to All-School Mass that have a student participating in the leading of Mass.

COVID Testing: The Task Force has given approval for families to use either a PCR Test or a Molecular ID Test to return from quarantine. Saint Francis offers a free drive thru clinic that yields results in 24 hours.

Grace and Understanding: This is a gentle reminder that we need to be following in our Heavenly Father's footsteps in giving people grace and understanding during these difficult times with COVID. We field so many calls a day asking for guidance to ensure everyone is doing the right thing. Yes, COVID is real and scary, however, we also have students and staff suffering from seasonal allergies, head colds, pink eye, stomach bugs and various other ailments that could present as COVID. So much is unknown so we need to unite as a community to lift each other up each day and trust that each of us are doing their best for our school.

Note: We want families to be our partners in navigating school during a pandemic. If you have COVID comfort concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are doing our very best to make accommodations as we can.

The School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Plan for 2021-22 is posted below. We want to remind everyone that we review data often and we are committed to our plan being a evolving document based on trends in our area.
