Message from Principal Mata

Greetings Miller Mammoth Families! I hope this note finds you healthy and ready to start the winter break. On Tuesday, January 5th, we will continue with distance learning and look forward to seeing students as we kick off the second half of the year.

Thank you for enduring all the changes 2020 has brought and working together with us to support our kids. Like many of you, I'm hopeful that 2021 will be more positive and kind to us all. Take care and we will see you soon!

Important Information

Beginning Monday, January 4th, due to minimal calls between 4:00-6:00, our HomeCoach helpdesk hours will now be 8:00-4:00 each day.

To try to align with our Tuesday-Friday schedule, our Monday online small group support time will shift to 9:00-11:00 (beginning Monday, January 11th). No online small groups on Monday, January 4th.

Our teachers and students will be going through another round of easyCBM and iReady assessments in January. This is just a friendly reminder to please allow your student to work through the assessments independently. This data helps us know how we can better support the academic needs of our students.

January 18th - There will no classes/Monday activities as we honor Martin Luther King Jr.

FREE GRAB-N-GO MEALS

SKPS will be offering Grab-N-Go Meal distribution locations at 14 schools during winter break from December 21-23, 2020, and December 28-31, 2020.

Similar to the district's normal meal distribution, meals will be available for pick-up at the locations below from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are free for any child or teen ages 1-18, and anyone 21 years old or younger with special needs who is attending a Salem-Keizer Public School program.

Extra meals and bus stop locations

There will be no extra meals available to supplement the holiday or weekends. In addition, there will be no bus route meal locations from December 18, 2020 through January 2, 2021. See a list of free food locations offered by our community partners on the Marion-Polk Food Share website.

*Beginning January 4, 2021, Grab-N-Go Meal locations will resume at most previous school sites and bus stops.

SCHOOLMESSENGER

At the start of each school year, information from student registration forms is input into the student information database.

SchoolMessenger, the system the district uses to send out phone notification to parents, receives updated information from this database once each day.

It is very important that parents keep their contact information current.

Be sure to let your school office know if you have a new address, email or phone number.

The parent or guardian marked as the primary contact in the student information system will receive automated communication.

Messages will also be sent to the student’s home phone number contained in the database, if different from the primary contact phone number.

Oregon Health Plan Free For Youth

Through the Oregon Health Plan, youth 19 years of age and younger have access to free health coverage, regardless of immigration status if they meet the income requirements.

More information, including income requirements and how to apply for coverage, is available online.
