It's almost summer! Here's the latest news from the district as we finish out 2014-15 and head into a great 2015-16!

The best of luck to those of you retiring or leaving our math team. Cindy Jones (RHS), Deb Witherspoon (WMS), Mark Demianovich (Shannon), and Alisha Gabbard (RHHS) - you will all be missed!

Computation Assessment Tools coming soon - new TEKS revisions

Check eBackpack later this week for some new computation assessment tools designed by Liz Kelly and aligned to our new standards.

5th/6th

6th/7th (this is the one you're familiar with but it has been redesigned)

In the past, the 6th grade math teachers gave the computation assessment as a post-assessment and sent the results to middle schools to use as a pre-assessment at the beginning of the year.

Now there's one you can share with your 5th grade teacher!

Thank you for your hard work, LIz!

See below for a sneak peek into our August Professional Learning plans! More information will follow!

A note about MSTAR glitches & a bonus

I'm sorry for the inconvenience in your testing plans. Thanks for always getting the job done despite the challenges.

I ran across this interesting TedEd Geometry video that I thought you might enjoy.

Great Lessons from Jo Boaler and You-Cubed

This might be something to consider for creating interest in your classroom: https://www.youcubed.org/week-of-inspirational-math/

It might provide more opportunities for students to engage in the mathematical process standards. I have not aligned the activities to the new standards so let me know what you think!
