Every grade level is impacted by GMAS for the next two weeks. Please look VERY, VERY Carefully at the school schedule. Make sure that you notice…

  • Lunch—Please eat lunch in the cafeteria with your classes. Lunch times are the same though.
  • IF and Specials Times are different than your regular schedule.
  • EIP and Gifted Classes are meeting on a modified schedule because of testing
  • Students going to EIP and Gifted must be ready to be picked up by teachers at the correct time (because of location changes and testing taking place)
  • Specials—All will push into regular classrooms with the exception of PE

**Reminder - Please DO NOT release students to the walker room, buses, car rider holding or clubs until they are dismissed via the announcements. Many students are taking it upon themselves to move throughout the school prior to these announcements.

Do you ever feel like you put two weeks of work into one? This past week you ALL did just this and it was noticed and greatly appreciated. With an opportunity to showcase our school for district accreditation to hosting our 1st Annual Fine Arts Night there was no shortage of opportunities to engage.

Many have asked...How did we do? What did the review team have to say? The actual report will not be shared out for quite some time. However, based on the words of the lead evaluator for District Accreditation - she indicated that "You are killing it." This speaks to the culture, compassion, consistency and practices not only in our building but throughout the district! A job well done for sure!

This coming week we will kick of GMAS! I hope you have taken some time to review the changes in scheduling, routine, places to avoid, etc. It is imperative that we maintain an optimum testing environment! Your help is greatly appreciated as we tackle this together! One thing is for sure - Our Kiddos are ready to knock it our of the park because of great staff like you! Thank you!

AS we round out the year it is imperative to keep a few things at the forefront: The last day for county wide book checkout is Thursday, May 9th, with all books due back on Friday, May 10th. Additionally, all materials are due back prior to the end of the year.Lost Books/Teacher materials will need to be paid for prior to the close of the school year. Those teachers leaving will need to ensure that ALL materials are returned.

As a reminder, every Monday is a "Mindset Monday". Pair your mindset shirts with denim to kick the week off in style while focusing on our 7 Mindsets!

With an intentional focus of consistency on being curious & crazy for kids you will ALWAYS find a culture that is student focused!

Have a WONDERful Week!

Economics Day at McAllister

It is that time of year! Economics Day will be Friday, May 17. Students will begin to earn money on Monday, April 8. Students can earn $3 per day- 1 for attendance, 1 for am behavior and 1 for pm behavior. Please communicate daily with students about how much money they have. We encourage you to have students keep track of their own money. This is a great way to incorporate your math & economics standards. Students can keep track by having a check book style register. They can deposit what they earn each day and keep a running total.

The committee feels that students knowing how much they have earned is vital to making sure that we are keeping the “spring behaviors” in check. Economics Day has always been an activity that has been based on behavior. Everyone in your class will not have the same amounts of money when it comes spending day.

I am attaching a file below so that you can show to students so that they can understand what Economics Day is all about.

7 Mindsets

After you have taught all 7 Mindsets Units, please be sure to teach the last lesson in the curriculum. The lesson is titled “Conclusion” and can be found below Unit 7 on the Course Navigation page. We would love to continue our Mindset Monday lessons. We are currently working on some ideas for lessons for the remainder of the year. If you have an idea you would like to share, please send it to Ms. McNeely. Thank you for the incredible job you have done this year teaching our students these important mindsets!!!

Weekly updates will be posted in this section. I look forward to the impact that 7 mindsets is going to have on our school community! If you are ever planning to be out on a Mindset Monday or just need a hand in delivering a lesson - the administrators and counselors are more than happy to help.
