Letter from the Chair
Whelp, it is that time again and the AALL Annual Meeting is just around the corner. For me this means visiting a new city and connecting with friends old and new. It also means it will be time to pass the gavel shortly. Like all endings, the end of my tenure as Chair is bittersweet.
In my time as Chair it has been beyond a pleasure to work with so many humble and talented PEGA board members. I am really proud of all we have accomplished in the past two years. As a new SIS we had a lot of hard work ahead of us from the outset. In just two years, our membership has almost doubled, we have provided dozens of scholarly connections though our annual Beer & Edits event, and we have begun to churn out an excellent blog and newsletter. All of this would never have been possible without the time and effort of our PEGA-sis board, our committee Chairs, and every member and volunteer who has helped our SIS grow. Though we have made great strides, our work is not done. We are still growing. We will always be growing because that is what PEGA-sis is about: growth, support, and connection.
I have no doubt, however, that this trajectory will continue full force ahead under the guidance of our incoming Chair, Deborah Schander. Take a moment to check out our Show Us Your Shelfie feature this month and get to know our new Chair!
While you are at it, take a minute to really dig into this newsletter, because I promise it will remind you about everything great your PEGA membership has to offer. Listen to the great advice of our Ask PEGA mentors and you will grow your skill set by getting the most out of the conference. Connect with colleagues and scholars by attending this year’s PEGA Party at Speakeasy or our Beer & Edits event (pre-registration not required, but recommended). Get involved and support PEGA by attending our virtual business meeting on Tuesday, July 11th at 1:00pm Eastern.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out tips from guest blogger and Austin local Joe Noel to ensure you know what the locals really like to do and eat in Austin!
In the meantime, I will be soaking up the last moments as Chair and starting my own #PEGAPREP17 lists. Thanks for a great tenure!
Best,
Michelle Hook Dewey
