BOY'S BASKETBALL
Boys Basketball meeting will be held after school for 7th and 8th grade on 10/7/22. Both grades will meet in the commons. Each meeting should last for about 20 minutes. Basketball tryouts/practice will start on 10/17/22 after school. All participants will be placed on a team for their grade level. Placement will be either on our competition A and B teams or our in house intramural program. These placements are made after coaches have an opportunity to evaluate the players during the tryout days.
Please make sure if you have not registered your athlete for sports and paid their activity fee for the 2022-23 school year you take care of that ASAP. If you have played football for EGMS you have already completed this process and do not need to do anything further this year. Students who competed in Running Club will need to make sure they have paid the $35 activity fee, since that is not a requirement for Running Club.

PACK LEADERS
Grandview Middle School is offering a new group for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to be involved in! Pack Leaders is a student group that will be offering monthly opportunities for students to volunteer and lead within the community or at Grandview Middle School! Our first volunteer project will be on October 6th, before and after school, to help celebrate World Smile Day on October 7th! There will be many projects and chances to give back using our time and talents throughout the year! Don't miss out!
WOLF ACADEMY - HOMEWORK INTERVENTION PROGRAM
Grandview has a robust system that grade level teams use to track missing homework. If a student has more than 3 missing assignments, teachers may reach out to parents informing them their child is getting behind and request their attendance at Wolf Academy until 4:30pm.This is an excellent way to provide students with additional time or support to assist them in staying current with their homework. Wolf Academy runs Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-4:30pm. If a student is still struggling to get caught up, Saturday School provides another block of time to assist students. We appreciate your support when you are contacted about the need for one of these interventions.
YEARBOOK PURCHASE
FOOD AT SCHOOL
We strongly discourage food from outside vendors being brought into school. If there is an emergency and a student does not have money and forgot their lunch, please call the office ahead of time to get permission. We also do not allow food for an entire lunch table or for a class snack to be shared (this includes donuts for PRIDE class). We appreciate your help with this.
APPOINTMENT REMINDERS
Any student who needs to leave school during the day for an appointment must check out with the office before leaving. No student will be dismissed unless the following has occurred:
Parents/guardians have contacted the school office and arranged for the dismissal (by phone (402) 289-9399, e-mail to the attendance secretary at sbrabec@epsne.org, through the link on the EGMS webpage under Contact (Contact the Office) or sending a note with the student). You may notify the office up to a week before, but preferably no later than 8:30 am the day of the appointment. The student will be given a pass to leave the classroom, go to their locker, sign out in the office, and meet you at the front door at the requested time. This process allows for minimal disruption to the classroom while allowing you to pick your child up as needed. We appreciate your efforts to schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible.
DAILY BULLETIN & ACTIVITIES CALENDAR
Parents may view the EGMS daily announcements at: www.elkhornweb.org, EGMS heading and then click on Daily Bulletin. For the most current and up-to-date activities information, please check out the Activity Calendar on the EGMS website or by visiting http://www.easternmidconference.org. You can then navigate your way to whichever sport and level of play you are interested in. We will update the information on this website FIRST.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Elkhorn Grandview Middle School staff spent the September 30th In-service day working on school improvement initiatives. The morning was spent working in grade level/department meetings with EMS, ERMS, EVVMS, & ENRMS teachers reviewing student achievement data from last school year and setting student learning goals for this year.
POWER SCHOOL
With the end of the quarter approaching, we encourage all parents to check their child's grades through Powerschool. Powerschool log-in information is what you used to register your child at the beginning of the year. If you need help getting into your account, please contact Sarah Brabec in the main office at sbrabec@epsne.org or by phone at 402-289-9399.
STANDARDIZED TESTING
Students in grades 6th - 8th completed their MAP assessment earlier this fall. The MAP tests are closely aligned to the state tests that are administered in the spring. The state tests are reported to the state department of education. The fall MAP results allow us to track student growth during the year and act as a predictor for student performance on the state tests. Students will take Winter MAP tests in Reading and Math only in December. The state tests will be administered in late March-mid April to all grades. The last session of MAP will be given to 6th - 8th graders in early May.
