Bear Creek Elementary Special Areas

Library News:
Thank you to everyone who placed their orders for the Pre Sale of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Big Shot! We have received news that due to the volume of UPS vendors, orders might be delayed by a few days.
I know kiddos are excited to receive the books, and I am excited to get the books into their hands! As soon as books arrive to our campus, I will hand deliver them to each student that placed an order.
Thank you so much for your support! - Ms. Saenz

A Message From BCE PE:
Hello Bear Creek Families!
This week we will finish our Fitness Unit. Monday-Thursday our 3-5 grade students will finish their push-up and curl-up assessments and we will get in any flexibility assessments (trunk lift and Sit-N-Reach) that we didn't get to. Our K-2 Cubs will participate in a variety of learning activities that focus on Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength/Endurance, and Flexibility. Tuesday - Thursday our games and activities will focus around Fall and Halloween; before heading into our next PE unit on Friday.
November and December we will be combining our next two units of Hand Dribbling and Shooting (basketball skills) and Rhythms, which includes learning dance steps and Jumping Rope! Our Health Concepts will focus mostly on the Skeletal System in November, and then Nutrition in December.
Students will be using our Plagnets (Plicker - magnet in picture above) to do a lot of self-assessment during this next quarter.
SKELETONS REQUESTED!
2nd nine weeks Skill Concepts:
Hand Dribbling and Shooting
Rhythms
In this unit, students will learn how to jump a self-turned rope and follow simple rhythm patterns while jumping a rope, and how to follow simple rhythm patterns (dance steps).
2nd NINE WEEKS HEALTH Concepts:
Skeletal System and Nutrition:
In these units, students will learn about the bones of the body, how to fuel their bodies through nutrition, how to hydrate their bodies, and how to care for the physical needs of their bodies.
FITNESSGRAM:
All 3rd - 12th grade students enrolled in a PE or PE substitution are assessed using the Fitnessgram assessment. This assessment includes a variety of health-related physical fitness tests that measure aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Scores from these assessments are compared to Healthy Fitness ZoneĀ® standards to determine students' overall physical fitness and suggest areas for improvement when appropriate. Fitnessgram scores should NEVER be used as a grade for students. For better results and safety, students should wear proper attire such as athletic shorts, a t-shirt, socks and running shoes during the assessments.
In AISD parents have access to their child's information via the AISD Parent Cloud.

Thank you for your continued support!
