Bear Tracks
June 2, 2017
A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
Happy Friday and happy June!
Raise your hand if you have read A Tale of Two Cities...
The epic first few lines are some of the most important in literature; the super simplified version is: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." (google it for the rest, pretty inspiring...)
That is what June can feel like. The stresses of having increased night activities, performances, projects and end of year assessments as well as the general antsiness that is shared by every student regardless of age can be rough! The world can move really fast.
BUT DON'T FORGET THE FIRST PART. "It was the best of times." This is the most special part of the year. Your students have grown and are ready to take the next leap, it is a moment that you will always remember and will actually long for later (trust me). The kids absolutely love the special activities and festivities.
PLEASE be sure to remember to be present and to enjoy every second. Our kids know when we are passionate and when we are excited and they get passionate and excited too! Case and point - FIELD DAY, CIRCUS, STEM OVERNIGHT and so much more! What a week. We have so many awesome things happening and I love that you are enthusiastic and fired up. Don't be afraid to let it show and to share this special time with your kids.
We are on the final .2 miles of the marathon, so let's sprint home and have a great time.
Thank you for giving it your all. Bear Tavern is not like other places and it is because of you. KEEP IT UP!
Sincerely,
Chris
Key Information:
- STAR LAB sign ups will be in the office. We'll have it from Mon 6/12 - Fri 6/16.
- BARNES & NOBLE NIGHT - June 8th. We are looking for guest readers for some FUN read alouds. See Paula for information and to volunteer!
- P Drive - June 30th will be the last day to save P Drive stuff. I found out today that things ON YOUR DESKTOP, in "My Documents and in folders on your desktop apply, so please save those items on an external drive, flash drive or into Google Drive.
- Outdoor Classroom Committee Meeting Monday 6/5 after school. I Met with Dr. Drawbridge, the head of the HVEF about the Outdoor Learning Space at BT. She had some really great input and ideas about how to get funding for our project from some new sources that could help make it a reality even more quickly. In a nutshell, we are going to submit four to five independent grants (one for each section of the design), and we are going to pursue partnerships with corporations, such as BristolMyers Squibb, Jansen and Rosedale Mills. Each organization has a history of funding specific projects that would match many of our areas. If you'd like to help with the next steps, come on by. We'll meet in room A-2. Our vision is in the process of becoming a reality!
