Employee Service Awards 2/13
If you completed 10, 15, 20, 25 or more years of service at PfISD, please send me your name this week so I can double-check that you are recognized! The banquet to celebrate you will take place on Feb. 13th at 6:00. Invitations should have been delivered. Please let me know if you will be attending and if you will have a plus 1, so I know how many seats to save. :)
Oratorical Event
Our annual Oratorical Event is around the corner and it's time to see our kids shine! Throughout the month of February, we will be celebrating Black History Month and recognizing African American figures who have made an impact in our lives. Our students will explore various poems, excerpts, and/or speeches by these figures and choose a selection that "speaks" to them which they will then memorize and recite in early March.
*Please note that this is mandatory for 3rd-5th graders at HP. Participating in the Oratorical Competition, on the other hand, is highly encouraged, but not a requirement.
You should have already/will soon receive "Oratorical Dates to Remember" along with an Oratorical rubric that you will use for each student.
Big thing to know now is... PLEASE talk to your kids about the event and have them select their Oratorical piece by Thursday, Feb. 6th . We will have a flyer going home that day providing parents with info about Oratorical (flyer attached in case you want to view).
Side note and reminder: All students in DL classes are eligible to compete in BOTH languages. They do not have to choose one or the other. If you have a student who is a TOP English and TOP Spanish performer, they can perform both poems for the competition.
Please contact Ms. Duong at any time if you need clarification or any further information. S Also, your grade level S.S. representative(s) are great resources as well!

Talent Show
Talent Show interest form will go out this week, please place in Tuesday Folders. The forms will be due to Ms. Lane by 2/14. Looking at 2/21 for a possible Dress Rehearsal with an evening Talent Show being on 3/6.
From our Amazing Intervention Team:
Next week, Intervention will be seeing our groups on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Intervention will be helping with Mock STAAR Testing. On Thursday, we will be holding First Grade Dyslexia Screener PSSTs (15+ students). On Friday, we will be holding PSSTs of all of the students that we said we need to follow up on after MOY data. If there is any extra time on those two days, we will be analyzing MOY and Mock STAAR data to see how it will affect our groups and schedules. We apologize for the inconvenience and the inconsistencies next week but hope to be back to our regular (updated) schedules the following week. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Teaching Tip:
Input, output, input, output. Students learn by doing with constant monitoring and feedback.
Behavior Tip
Work your Crowd: When students are near you, they tend to be on their best behavior. Effective teachers make an art form out of "working the crowd" -- otherwise known as "management by walking around." PBIS
SWAT
This week we will meet with 3-5 and review literacy and math stations and K-2 will have an off week.
