Students will be signing up to participate in the 2016-2017 STEAM Spelling Bee very soon! The event will take place at STEAM on December 9th at 9:00 am. Here is the link for resources, information, and study materials for parents/students.

Mrs. Carroll:
Students are continuing to prepare for our upcoming unit. In this unit, students will design their own cereal box after exploring skills related to the graphic design and marketing career fields.
Mrs. Beam & Mrs. Parker:
We will be finishing our unit “Journey to NASA!” Students will be finishing up illustrations for their children’s book sharing their journey to a career at NASA. Children will need Chromebooks charged and ready each day.

We will continue with our ratios, rates, and percents unit. This week students will:
Compare additive and multiplicative relationships
Represent ratios and rates using tables and graphs
Solve problems with proportions
Convert units within a measurement system
Mrs. Justice will be out on Monday and Thursday this week for training.

We will have a knowledge check over Parallel Lines and Transversals on Tuesday
For the rest of the week, students will explore the Pythagorean Theorem
Any classwork that is not finished during our time together will be completed as homework and turned in the following day
Ms. Whitfield will be out for training on Monday and Thursday
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother
We are concluding our study of Central America and having a test over this unit in World Cultures on Wednesday November 16. We will compare perspectives of two characters in Voices of the Panama Canal. We will explore expository and procedural texts related to the theme of Thanksgiving.
Art ~ Mrs. Beam
We will be working on our Color + Emotion unit and focusing on watercolor techniques, color theory, and the design/art making process. This will take us through the rest of this week.
