Week of September 8-11, 2020
A Message from Mrs. Ryan & Mrs. Farris
Dear Walker Families,
We are ready for week three of school! Labor Day is on Monday, September 7th so we will not have school on Monday. We will continue our school-wide color dress-up days this week. Wear brown on Tuesday, black and white on Wednesday, gray on Thursday, and pink or purple on Friday. We can't wait to see everyone dressed in the color of the day!
We hope you have been hearing all about your child's school experiences when they come home each day. Is your child coming home with homework? If your child says they do not have homework, ask them what they are supposed to read. We know that from reading practice comes reading proficiency, therefore, we ask that all students read at home every night. Please ask your child what they are reading and remind them that they are to be reading every night. We would love for you to sit down and listen to your child read and even share the reading with your child as you read aloud to them.
The USDA has extended free meals for kids through December 31, 2020. Please see the link below. For more information please reach out to Mrs. Gena Smith, Child Nutrition Director, By phone, (479) 750-8707 ext. 1, By email, email@example.com
At Walker Elementary parent and community support are the heart of our school, however, due to COVID-19, visitors to school buildings will be limited to only those with essential school business. We hope to relax this restriction as the pandemic subsides and reopen our doors to our parents and community partners. Thank you for supporting us virtually as we wait for the restrictions to subside.
Thank you for partnering with us for your child's education. We are here for your child each and every day. If there is a question, concern, or even an idea to share, please reach out to your child's teacher or to either one of us. Please read the newsletter below for important updates and changes happening at Walker and in the Springdale School District. We look forward to a great 2020-2021 school year.
