Recently Added Resources
Recently Added Resources:
The link to the Canvas Course below was created specifically for 3rd-5th grade teachers on the new parts of your curriculum. The optional course is self-paced and meant to give teacher background information on the new standards. In-service credit hours will be given for completion of modules. Click on the link below to gain access to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade content.
These documents were created for 2nd grade teachers to have as an added resource to the HMH magazines. The first two pages start with the magazine title and show what standards can be found in each magazine and where. The last two pages have the standards as the starting point and show which magazines include them.
Directions on how to access resources on grade level pages:
1. Visit the Knox County Schools website
2. Click Departments
3. Scroll down to Social Studies
4. On the left, find "For Elementary Teachers" and click your grade level (You must be signed in to access materials.)
3rd-5th Gallopade Info
Many teachers have asked how to add students to their Gallopade rosters. New students will not be pulled into classes automatically, but the process for adding students is a simple one. Attached below are directions to help you add students to your classes quickly.
The one caveat to this is that if the student has transferred from another Knox County school, Joe Sumter from the textbook department will have to handle that transfer. For instances like this, Joe has created a form for teachers to fill out. This form is for KCS transfer students only, not for any students coming from outside the school system.
If you have questions about this or any other Gallopade questions, please don't hesitate to email Kristin Risdahl to ask.

The contest is open until Dec. 13. For more information about how to submit and entry, please see the provided documents on the Governor’s Civics Seal web page.Women's Suffrage Centennial- TDOE Featured Content
This month the TDOE is highlighting the early fight for women’s suffrage in Tennessee, including the first public meeting in Tennessee on Suffrage in 1879 and the Equal Suffrage Association forming in 1889.
