Stay Up-to-Date With Your Child's Grades: Parent Portal
The end of 1st Quarter is coming up on October 12. Do you know how your child is doing in his/her classes? Parents can use Parent Portal to keep up to date on grades, attendance, lunch account balances and more!
Check out the Guide to Parent Portal for instructions on how to use this student and parent information system.
NOTE: The “Assignments” and “Grades” tiles in Parent Portal aren’t used as frequently by elementary parents (grades K-5), as by secondary parents (grades 6-12). Elementary progress under the Grades tile is shown as standards-based progress as reported on quarterly report cards.
You can log onto Parent Portal by visiting plattecountyschooldistrict.com and clicking on the “Grades” icon at the top of any page. You can also download the Tyler SIS Student 360 app on your mobile device. Email notifications to parents can also be scheduled for students in grades 6-12. Select the Notification Preferences tile or “Set Notification Preferences" under the parent drop-down menu. These notifications include an email if the student is absent and/or if a gradebook score is entered.
Safe and Civil Schools
Our school is participating in a project supporting building leadership. As a part of that project, all students will be asked to complete an anonymous survey about school climate and their experiences in school. The purpose of the project is to determine if a training program for principals helps promote a positive and safe school for students. One way we will examine whether the program is helpful is by asking students their perceptions of the school and behaviors that can affect student academic success.
Students will be asked to complete an electronic survey (with no names) at school. It will last 20-30 minutes. The survey is completely voluntary, and privacy will be strictly protected. Student responses cannot be linked back to individual students. If there are any questions your child does not wish to answer, he/she is free to skip questions and they may stop taking the survey at any time they choose. Students who do not wish to participate in the survey or stop participating or whose parents choose to deny permission for their participation will be provided with an appropriate alternative activity (e.g. reading in the school library or quiet reading) while the surveys are being administered.
If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please notify the school office. Let us know if you have any questions.

Bullying and Safety Concerns
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.
Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to learn!
