***Question of the Month***
A KISD teacher asked...
How do I make sure that my students are really doing the learning and not just working through DIYs? How do I make sure that they're making progress during the unit?
How would you answer this question? Email your answers to amber.richards@kellerisd.net and I'll include them in the next newsletter.
If you have any questions of your own, send those to me as well and I'll feature one as the Question of the Month for March.

ELM Hacks
One of the things I've consistently seen as I've been in classrooms or in planning days is the use of ELM hacks. Teachers have taken the idea and made it work for their classroom. For example:
- A lower elementary group of teachers uses KWL with their kiddos instead of K/N2K. KWL is something their students are familiar with and use in many contents, and it has the same basic premise as K/N2K.
- A group of 2nd grade teachers have created a great folder system for their DIYs so that their students can clearly see expectations and check their own work.
What's your favorite ELM hack?

Something to think about: What's the purpose of your resources?
Is it to scaffold and support students as they are working their way through the learning for the unit? Is it to make sure that all material is covered? Is it to try to find a way to fill up your gradebook?
