Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
October 1, 2020
Dear Parents,
Welcome to October, the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary. During this month, please consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a means to help our students draw closer to Jesus and Mary. Our school will hold a special outdoor Living Rosary near the end of the month uniting us a family of faith. We encourage all our school families to pray the rosary together at home during this very special month.
Here are a few school updates:
- It is important to know that the cost of tuition does not cover the cost of educating each child. The members of OLGC Parish also finance or subsidize a portion of that cost through the Sunday collections. In order to cover expenses, additional fundraising is needed. This year OLGC School will hold three major fundraising events. These include the Virtual Fall Fest Auction, the Day of Giving (February, 2021) and the Race for Education (May, 2021). The combined goal of the fundraisers this year is $100,000. Funds raised from these events this year will be used to decrease the parish subsidy, meet the operational budget and replace the cafeteria tables.
- The funds raised for playground renovations and upgrades from last year have been set aside for that project. However, at this time, with COVID-19 restrictions and protocols in place, we have been unable to move forward. Our hope is to begin that project shortly.
- The Virtual Fall Fest Auction held this past weekend was a tremendous success! The final total profit stands at $33,850! This is over a $3000 increase from last year. Many thanks to all of those who supported this endeavor in any way! None of this would have been possible without the amazing work of our Auction Committee.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal
THANK YOU!!!
The P.I.E. Committee would like to give a big THANK YOU to all those who helped make this year’s auction a huge success! The grand total would not have been possible without our amazing school families and faculty who either donated a basket, donated cash to be put towards a basket, bought an ad for our program book, donated ticket costs from the cancelled March event, bought chances for our cash and tuition prizes, told a friend or family member, made a class gift with the students, and finally all those who put a bid in our virtual auction!
We can't wait until our 3rd annual OLGC Auction Night which will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 so SAVE THE DATE!!!
