Look! It's Our LEGO Wall!
Teddy Time
It was Teddy Bear Sleepover Day in Kindergarten! The students brought a stuffed friend to class and did a variety of activities with them, including reading to them, seeing how many cubes tall they were, and using tape measures to measure their length. We had a great time and can't wait to see what kind of mischief these stuffed friends get into at the sleepover!
SEPAC Meeting
The next Special Education Parent Advisory Council meeting will be held on June 12, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in the Department of Special Services conference room. All parents are encouraged to attend! Rachel Reboiro, District Reading Specialist, will be supported by Jessica Gluck, Assistant Director of Special Services, and Ray Renshaw, Director of Special Services, as she addresses the topic of dyslexia. Furthermore, strategies
and resources to address this challenge will be shared during the meeting.
School Supply Kits: Be Ready for September
Thank you for your patience while the school supply lists were corrected. They have all been updated, and you can place your order. If you have already placed an order, you do not need to do anything more; your order will be updated with the correct supplies.
Ordering is available exclusively online. To take advantage of this program, visit https://www.shopttkits.com/, and enter our school’s account number—38680. Please remember to order for the grade your child is entering.
Note that the school kits do not come with headphones, but you can order a pair through SchoolKidz or supply your own in September.
4-G/V Sets Sail
Last month, 4-Goldman/Vozza finished their Immigration unit by showing off their suitcases. The students were given a fictional immigrant to research. Along with their research, they had to create suitcases their immigrants would travel with, and here they share some photos from this great adventure.
Creepy Crawlies in 2-T
2-T has been bustling with “growth” this time of year. They’ve been exploring insect life cycles and getting up close and personal with mealworms, milkweed bugs, caterpillars and silkworms (pictured here.) It has been quite amazing to see these little creatures grow and change right before our eyes! We’ve also been able to notice similarities and differences among our living organisms and to make predictions about their growth and change based on what we’ve learned from our observations.
We’ve also been growing into real critics! Did you know that there are real grownups who get hired to tell the world what they think about things?! We have channeled our inner Yelp! reviewer as we learned all about forming opinions about the books we are reading and then writing book reviews to let others know if we think they should read them too. Some lucky readers have opened books and been surprised by a review letter left there by a friend. Once we got really great at reviewing books, we decided to try our hand at reviewing movies, vacation spots, restaurants and even toys. If anyone out there is looking for some fun places to check out or things to do this summer, please stop by room #24 and let these kids share their reviews with you! They have promised to be brutally honest and to support their opinions with lots of evidence!
