I am so pleased to inform you that the kids received quite a few compliments on their behavior this week. They are really maturing. Please keep reinforcing this at home as well. The better they listen, the more we get to do!
My daughter, Maggie, came to school and did a wonderful lesson on sign language with the kids. We practiced our alphabet, numbers, family and pets. Maybe we can start having all sign language talking in the cafeteria? ha!
Internet Safety Week was a huge success. The kids learned alot in the assembly with our PTA moms and an officer from FMPD. Get involved now in what your kids do on the computer and technology. Innocent YouTube videos can go wrong very quickly...As a mom of big kids I have seen cyber bullying, inapporpriate content and assorted sneakiness associated with technology. Be all up in your kids' business! It is the best way to help them make good choices.
We have a full weekend of grandparents in town and Oklahoma performances at the high school this weekend. So have a great weekend!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
Language Arts/Social Studies- We began reading biographies. We read Helen Keller (inspiring the sign language lesson) and started our biography portfolio. We will be collecting mini posters they make over lots of important people in our history. We also spent some time on Friday learning about Chinese New Year and other Chinese customs. It is the year of the rooster!
Science-We learned about water. We talked about how all rivers flow out to the sea and start on a mountain or hill. We looked at patterns all over North America and found it to be true.
