CONGRATULATIONS to Brooklyn Martin

Brooklyn has been selected to receive the Excellence In Innovation award at the 7th Annual Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) Real McCoy Awards presented by DTE Energy.

Brooklyn participated in the Saturday Explorers program and demonstrated excellence in academic performance and innovation and was nominated by her DAPCEP instructor. We are extremely proud of Brooklyn and wish her the best of luck.

A MESSAGE FROM MS. PERKOVICH - READ ABOUT HOW GUEST CAN RAISE $5,000.00 FOR THE WALKING TRACK

I am so excited to share a wonderful opportunity for Guest to raise money for the walking track! The opportunity presented to me is as follows:

For every two dollars raised by our school community, an anonymous donor will match it with one dollar, up to $5,000.00.

That would be a total amount max of 15,000 (10,000 by the school community and a match of 5,000 = 15,000)

We need your ideas. So far, Dining to Donate, Student Council, once a month hat day (dates coming soon), bottle drives, shoe drive, technology recycling, alumni donations, and Y-ties are things we have tried and/or are currently in place.

What ideas do you have?

Let's GO Wildcats! We have $10,000.00 to raise!

MATH PENTATHLON - DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Math Pentathlon problem solving games provide a highly motivational format for developing and practicing important math concepts. While playing games in cooperative division age groups, students strengthen their strategic thinking and critical reasoning abilities. For more information on the program, please visit www.mathpentath.org.

We need YOU! The Math Pentathlon Club at MHG is successful because of our wonderful parent volunteers! Classes will be formed based on the number of parent volunteer coaches (or team coaches if you prefer to share coaching duties with another parent). If you are interested in becoming a coach or team coach for any grade, please contact MHG Math Pentathlon Club Coordinator. More information included on the flier below.

ABSENCES, CHANGES IN SCHEDULE, & NOTES TO SCHOOL

If you intend to keep your child home on a school day for any reason, please use our attendance hotline at 248-956-3390. You may leave a voicemail message 24 hours a day. IF we do not receive a call from you, we will call you to make sure that your child is indeed absent.

The Transportation Department will not issue bus passes for after school study, play dates etc. Bus passes will be issued for shared custody and sometimes day care, babysitting, or other emergencies. The Transportation Department will also issue year-long passes for in-district transfer and school of choice students when there is room on the bus.

If your child's transportation/dismissal for the end of the day changes in any way, please send in a note at the beginning of the day to your child's teacher AND the office. If this changes during the school day, please call our secretaries BEFORE 3:00 PM. We will do our best to ensure your child gets to the correct place at the end of the day, but we ask for your help with this by notifying us EARLY in the day or with a note. Thank you!

VOLUNTARY SCHOOL ACCIDENT INSURANCE

As a service to students and their families, our District is making available a student accident insurance plan for your child at a very nominal cost. The District offers this program because of trends in rising family health and dental insurance costs, increased deductibles, co-payments or lack of health or dental insurance coverage. Information can be found on the district website

PTA REFLECTIONS CONTEST 2018-2019

Please be sure to take some time to get creative this summer! If you have any questions, please reach out to Guest Elementary PTA Reflections Chair:

Sarah Dodds

sarahdodds@wlcsd.org

Now that summer vacation is about to start, it’s a great time to start looking for inspiration for your projects! Start thinking about the people in your world who are heroes. Are they someone whose job is to help people? Are they someone who volunteers in the community? Are they kids helping grown-ups? Or grown-ups helping kids? Are they people helping animals? Or animals helping people?

We can’t wait to see how those heroes inspire you through the arts! Review the current standing rules at the Michigan PTA Reflections website
