Digital citizenship: Navigating the digital world safely, responsibly, and ethically
Online Ethics: is a set of moral principles that govern the usage of computers
The role digital media plays in a high schools student's everyday life is that we use it everyday. We use digital media even for school projects. Digital media is very important with the way society is today and makes things easier. Digital media helps us connect with the outside world and help us spread the word to many other people.
Digital Footprint and Reputation
Consequence: the effect of something that happened earlier
Even though it might be easier for some people to say mean things online there still are consequences. By saying mean things could led to you not getting that job you wanted in your future. Or that college you wanted to go to. Yes, some might argue that the have "freedom of speech" which they do, just know that there will be consequences.
Relationships and Communication
Double Standard: A rule that is unfairly applied to different people or groups of people
There are both pros and cons of meeting people online. For example, they could have the same interest with you instead of some of the people you actually know. Cons they could make fun of you for the things that you like and use them against you.
Cyberbullying
Target: A person who is the object of the intentional action
Offender: A person who has malicious intent to hurt or damage someone
Bystander: A person who does nothing when they witness something happening
Upstander: A person who supports and stands up for someone else
The reason it is important to be an upstander is because there are few people who actually do it. Many people will just stand back and watch things happen. If we keep letting this to continue to happen there will be more people who will think worse about themselves instead of wanting to be them.
