The Patriot Parent Connection

2020-2021 School Year: Volume 4 - Week of September 7

Dear Liberty Families,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! While we have only been in school 3 1/2 weeks, I know this is a much needed break for all. Whether your family has been adjusting back to face-to-face instruction or learning the ropes on Forsyth Virtual, this has been a start like no other. I am so proud of our students, staff, and community for the patience & perseverance all have demonstrated to bring us to this point. Thank you all, truly!

Our Covid numbers across the district remain quite low compared to surrounding areas. This is 100% reflective of the precautions everyone in our community is taking to take care of one another - which, again, makes me so proud! That said, PLEASE remain vigilant in these precautions over the long weekend. I know the holiday presents opportunities to travel, gather, & celebrate, but please remain cautious. We want to continue to offer athletics for our students. We want to continue to offer face-to-face instruction for our families. Thus, we cannot forget to mask up, wash up, cover up, back up, and clean up.

With great Patriot Pride,

Amanda Thrower, Principal

LSC Parent Representative Election

Thank you to all of our candidates who expressed interest in serving on the Liberty Local School Council (LSC)! We are excited to welcome Mandy Hoaglund as our newest parent representative. You can read Ms. Hoaglund's bio below.

Again, thank you to all of our candidates. We are so fortunate to have such amazing support from our Liberty families!

My name is Mandy Hoaglund and I am writing in regards to the open LSC Parent Representative position at Liberty. I would be interested in being considered for the opening. My daughter, Reese, is in 6th grade at LMS and my older daughter, Avery, previously attended Liberty. She is now at freshmen at North. I also have two younger children who attend Matt. I have served on the PTO board at Matt and have volunteered at the school store and book fair at Liberty. I am very passionate about being involved at my children’s school and the community.

Virtual Curriculum Night - Coming Soon

Because we cannot host a traditional, face-to-face Curriculum Night this year, we will launch our Virtual Curriculum Night website on September 9th. Here, you will be able to learn all about the curriculum your student will be learning in each of their courses this year, including course overviews, standards, skills-focus, expectations, etc.

For our Virtual Families - for FVA courses being taught by Liberty teachers, our website will provide teacher introductions and curriculum overviews. For FVA courses taught by teachers at other schools, please visit those school's websites for Curriculum Night information.

Our next football game is Tuesday against Otwell Middle at Forsyth Central High School (6:30 kickoff). We are the visiting team for this game, so please sit on the visitor side of the stadium (concrete stands). We are excited for our athletes to have an opportunity to play, and we want these opportunities to continue! Thus, please help us by:

  • Social distancing in the stands (sit by households six feet apart from other households)
  • When not social distancing, wear a mask
  • Supervise children in your care and monitor their application of safety precautions
  • Bring hand sanitizer and use throughout the game
  • Try to bring exact change for gate tickets to cut-down on the exchange of bills ($4/student; $6/adults; $3/seniors 65+, FCS retirees, & veterans)

COVID-19 Quarantine Communication Plan

Please make sure you are aware of protocols for communicating quarantine information by watching the video below. Families need to have a plan in the event their student has to be quarantined due to direct exposure to Covid-19.

Thank You to all that have joined!!

A heartfelt thank you to all our parents and staff members who joined PTSO before school even started! We are stronger together and appreciate all our PTSO does to support Liberty students!

It's NOT too late to join!! Just go to My Payments Plus!

General Health Precautions

  • Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the building, but we encourage students to bring their own, as well.
  • Our custodians will be sanitizing classrooms every afternoon. If you want to send cleaning wipes with your student to wipe down surfaces before use, please just make sure they are not bleach-based products.
  • It is the expectation of staff and students to wear masks, if they are able. We want to be able to maintain face-to-face instruction all year. In order to do so, we MUST work to keep each other safe; mask-wearing is a significant part of this.
