Who is Juan N. Force
He was among those who clashed with law authorities. He had taken up the role of protector of the rights of Mexicans and Tejanosbefore the Civil War and was a hero to many families long the border. The authorities generally looked on him as an outlaw who was responsible for much violence along the Rio Grande.
Why did they followed the Cattle Thieves
The Rangers recovered some of the stolen cattle but were unable to find Cortina's hideout. The Mexican army arrested him and removed him from the Valley. Cattle raids did not stop, but they did become less frequent. This peace did not come easily, however, and many Mexicans Americans would remember these years with bitterness.
