ELECTRONICS!

What is electricity? How does it work? What can I make it do?

Find out at MEA Electronics!

Electricity is one of modern civilization's most important tools. In MEA Electronics, we will learn how electricity behaves with hands-on projects. Once we know the basics, we will explore whatever students want to, for example:

Robots and systems;

Communications, including radio and TV;

Computers and information;

Energy and power;

Chemical processes.

Come join us, and find out how to make electricity work for you!

Eco Warriors

Thursdays / 1:50 - 2:50 / area outside room 13 (science lab)

For grades 2-6

Please note that the meeting time for Eco Warriors has been changed to 1:50 - 2:50 pm. Open to 2nd-6th graders, this original program combines art, environmental awareness, dance, and play.

The Mt. Everest Academy MakerSpace!

Hello All MEA Families!

We have a new space this year at MEA, our MakerSpace. We are in room 7 adjacent to the playground in the middle of campus. Please feel free to stop by and see us here. We have Legos to play with and a small project to try!

We will be posting a schedule so you can know what is going on in our room every week and what time the space is open. We anticipate using our 3D printer, having sewing classes and building and creating with other “makers”. The possibilities are endless!

If you'd like to contribute materials for student projects, below are items we're asking for:

MakerSpace Wishlist

  • Sewing Materials: sewing machines, fabric, needles, ribbon, stuffing, patterns, tools/notions, sewing books, old sweaters washed and dried on high heat.
  • Hand Tools: hammers, pliers, nails, screws, wire cutters, crimpers, wrenches, chisels, clamps...
  • Jewelry Tools: crimpers, pliers (round nose, flat, chain nose), bead stops, beads, wire, stretch string, clasps...
  • PVC pipes
  • magnets
  • iPhones (old ones you no longer use)
  • hot glue guns
  • button and coin batteries
  • robotics equipment
  • electronics kits
  • VOLUNTEERS! Share your knowledge with students and teach the next generation of makers!

Come by and check us out. We’d love to talk to you about making our space, your place to create!
