Ms. Tate's News Blast
Happy New Year!!
I hope you New Year is starting out with a bang. We talked about New Year's Resolutions when we got back after the 1st of the Year. I am very proud of all of the effort the students put into their lists. If you haven't talked to your child about their resolutions please do.
We have two exciting events going on right now. I hope you have had a chance to read the flyers that came home last week on both of these events.
The first event is our Read-A-Thon. The Read-A-Thon looks a little different this year. The PTO/Teachers will not be counting minutes read but instead Genres. This is perfect for our class as we are already keeping track of that data. Please sit down with your child and help them set a reading goal. The goal your child might have at home, which will help them "earn" their pledge money, can be tied to minutes read. That will be something that you and your child determine and monitor!! Thanks for all your help with this exciting event.
Our second event is our "Caring Through Sharing" service-learning project. Two flyers were sent home on pink paper announcing this activity. Again this year, the 4th graders will be participating in a philanthropic project to benefit the children of Children's Hospital of Minnesota. The culminating activity for this event will take place on February 12th. If it works for your family to donate that would be greatly appreciated!! Please send money to school in a sealed envelope or baggie clearly labeled with your child's name and 4th Grade Caring Through Sharing. We will be collecting money from January 6th through February 5th. After the 5th the 4th grade teachers will buy the fleece that we will be using. The students absolutely love this event!!
Thank you again for all that you do to help your child be a successful 4th Grader!!
Sincerely,Ms. Teresa A. Tate
