Vol 24: Campus-wide updates during school closures in 2020
Roadrunner Families,
Volume 24: April 23rd, 2020
Happy Throwback Thursday! Today Ms. Gilbert is sharing a poem for National Poetry Month and I've included Ms. Borris's Wild Wednesday video again as it was a late addition to the update yesterday. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and there are some ideas linked below.
Tomorrow we will be premiering the first ever virtual Lee Olympics and wrapping up another week of Learning at Home. Thanks for taking the time to check in on the daily update- we miss all of you!
Ms. Sileo

Earth Week / Wild Wednesday!
Writing on Wild Wednesday
For a writing extension, write about all the ways your family uses light for one whole day. What is your greatest source of light? Do you use the lights inside of your home all day, or only at certain times? What fun things do you do with lights?
Math on Wild Wednesday
As a related math activity, write down the times of day using an analog and digital clock to show when you use natural light, or when you use artificial light (lamps, flashlights, etc.). Focus on checking the time and your light use on the half hour, or on the hour since that is how we know how to tell time.
More Fun
Want some additional fun? Here are a few other choices:
Create shadow animals with your hands and a flashlight! Try to have your family members guess the animal you made. Let them take a turn, and you guess their animal!
Shadow tracking- Trace your shadow using chalk from the same starting point every hour and see how it moves. What direction do you notice happening to your shadow as the day passes?
