Living and Learning with Respect

Wednesday 7th November

Welcome to our newest member of the school, Cooper in Mahana Room.

Our school roll is sitting at 155 which is a great number to have at this time of the year.

Big picture

Touch Rugby

The Tuesday touch rugby competition is half way through with our four teams having played three rounds to date. Finals night is on 20th November. A huge thank you to coaches and parents for your support.

Saturday morning competition begins 17th November. Draw to be advised closer to the date. We have two teams entered - one Yr 5/6 and one Yr 7/8. Cost is $30 per player - to be paid to the school. There is still a space in the Yr 5/6 team. See Miss Whittaker if interested.

Bruce Cleland is available for lunchtime coaching sessions. please advise Jenny in the office if you are interested in your child receiving small group coaching $50 for 6 weeks.

Swimming Pool

Thank you to Leon & Nathan who scrubbed the pool on Monday in preparation for this year's swimming season. It does take a little bit of work and time to get it up to scratch but, all going well we anticipate the pool will be open before the end of November. More up to date information in next week's newsletter, including details re keys.

School Production

Rehearsals are well underway for our school production, 'Mindcraft - the Musical' (Rachel Sutherland, Take a Bow Productions Ltd). All children will be involved. As each of the eleven main characters have an extraordinary amount of lines to learn we have delayed the performance dates to Wednesday 5th Dec (a matinee performance) and Thursday 6th Dec (an evening performance). Both performances will be at the Eltham Town Hall. Details re ticket sales etc. will be circulated within the next two weeks.

We still have a large amount of lemons available for a small donation. Our six chickens are laying most days so also beginning to accumulate eggs which are also for sale. Keep your eyes on the Produce trolley.

School Accounts

We would appreciate all school accounts being settled by Friday 7th Dec please. Any queries please talk to Jenny in the office.

Ready Steady School

The first of our 'Ready Steady School' sessions (for parents of 4 year olds) is on Thursday 15th Nov. This is a great opportunity for parents to gain some insight into what goes on when a child begins school with down to earth advice and plenty of time for discussion. Please RSVP if you will be attending.

Senior Room School Camp

Every child in Year 7 & 8 has the opportunity for a school camp sometime during the two years they are in the senior rooms. Last year the camp was a week long camp based at Forest Lakes, Otaki and included a day trip into Wellington. Planning is underway for the 2019 camp which will be based in either Mt Maunganui or Rotorua. It is anticipated that this camp will take place later in Term 1 or early Term 2. We hope to have more definite details before the end of the year.

Stratford High School Orientation

Year 8 students who are intending to go to SHS next year will have their orientation morning on 27th Nov 9am - 11am. it is expected that students will find their own way there and back. If there are any difficulties please advise Miss Dravitzki in the first instance.

End of Year

Our final assembly and end of year Prize Giving will be on Thursday 13th Dec at 7pm at the Stratford High School Hall. Children will be expected back at school on Friday 14th Dec. This day is intended as a fun, activity based day with a shared lunch to celebrate the end of 2018. Parents will be welcome to join in the fun. More details closer to the time.
