What things did Rome exelle at?
Rome also had some of the first and greatest philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Socrares. Philosophy is the study of knowledge, reality and existence. The Romans believed philosophy to be important because it questioned the regular way of thinking for Romans. Their words of philosophy still impact the modern world today.
Another thing that Rome exiled in was the science of architecture. Rome has some of the most impressive monuments and buildings, even today. Some of the most famous ones are the pillars seen all over Rome and the colosseum. The Romans built many buildings for different purposes that they needed back then. Most of their buildings, from bathhouses to churches had tiny details carved in that was all hand made. The Romans did this because they believed the physical appearance of something mattered a lot to show off their skill.
Famous Romans
Augustus was the first roman ruler, and everyone can see he must have to have been the best. His original name was Octavian, But he got recognized by a roman senate and had it changed to Augustus to honor his many achievements. One of these were when he avenged the death of Julius Caesar. He used his power over Rome wisely and built many famous buildings such as aqueducts and roads. He ruled well and his people loved him.
The last example of a famous roman was Gaius Marius, the great man of the army. He figured out a way to make the roman army almost unstoppable. He figure that the war formation and fighting tequnique was much like a Machine of some sore, every part/person working together to achieve their goals quicker. He designed a new system for people to sign up to the army quicker: by letting them become citizens if their war actions were cooperative. For almost his whole time in the roman army, they seamed unbeatable.
