Tuesday, August 23rd is the first day for Lunch Guests
We are excited to welcome visitors back for lunch on August 23rd. We have a small visitor section near the Colt Cafe, and we encourage you to bring your own lunch.
Please don’t forget to bring your picture ID when visiting our school. All parents will check in at the front desk with ID prior to going to lunch.
Just as a reminder, the section below is from our BES Parent Handbook regarding lunch visitation:
Parents may visit to eat lunch with their student Tuesday-Friday. (We do not have visitors on Mondays.) Parents/Guardians visiting for lunch should say "good bye” to their student in the cafeteria so that the teacher can begin instructional time after lunch. You are welcome to bring a lunch from home or you may purchase a lunch from our cafeteria. Parents/Visitors that are eating lunch with their child, must be listed in Synergy as a contact and must sit at the specified visitor table with only their student. Students may not bring a friend with them to the parent/visitor table.
Please see the current month’s calendar for additional days that visitors are not allowed to come for lunch due to testing or other special events. We do our best to communicate these days in advance. Available menu items are subject to change based on current inventory and deliveries.
Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are available online.
GCPS's Federal Grant has ended, and breakfast and lunch is no longer free for all students. If you need assistance paying for school meals, please complete a Free & Reduced form online at the Gwinnett County website. Please review the Free & Reduced Lunch Application directions or reach out to the school with any questions.
If you previously qualified for Free & Reduced Lunch, these benefits run out at the end of August. You must complete the Free & Reduced form online at the Gwinnett County website to continue receiving benefits.
Universal Screener in Gwinnett County Public Schools
In the coming weeks, each student at Brookwood Elementary School will participate in a universal screener assessment. The purpose of this screener is to help us better understand our students and determine where they may need support with a particular skill or concept and where they may be ready for acceleration. It is essential that all students do their best so that we can get a true measure of their strengths and areas in which they may need more support. Our goal is to intervene to remediate or accelerate learning as early in the semester as possible. The screener will be given in the normal classroom setting. Thank you for your support in helping our students do their best!
Box Tops for Education - No more clipping! Scan your receipt!
All money collected from boxtops goes directly to buy PE equipment for Brookwood Elementary. There is a new system starting this year where you download the FREE Boxtops for Education App and scan your receipt. The boxtops will automatically upload to our school's account. Just be sure to select BROOKWOOD ELEMENTARY SNELLVILLE, GA when you set up the app (There are SEVERAL Brookwood Elem. schools to choose from.) The video below will show you how the process works. Thank you!
Important Car Rider Reminders from Brookwood Elementary
Brookwood Elementary has worked with the Gwinnett County Police Department and Gwinnett County Public Schools' Resource Officers to ensure that our community streets are not blocked during arrival and dismissal. Here are some important reminders for car rider drop off and pick up:
- Car rider drop off begins at 8:20 am. Please have your child remain in your vehicle until staff members come out of the building to monitor drop off.
- The car rider line begins behind the fence of the lower parking lot. For the safety of students, staff, and other vehicles, please follow the car pool line traffic pattern.
- Please remain in the line of traffic after dropping off/picking up your student. Do not pull out and pass around other cars.
- Morning car riders - We request that you enter the car rider line between 8:20 - 8:40am. This will be during the timeframe that the line will be moving for arrival.
- Afternoon car riders - We request that you enter the car rider line between 3:20 - 3:40pm. This will be during the timeframe that the line will be moving for dismissal.
- Please do not block streets or roadways at any point.
- To ensure safe drop off and pick up, students need to exit and enter from the passenger side of the vehicle (the side of the vehicle closest to the school building).
