Winter Holiday Family Night
Winter Holiday Family Night is on Friday, December 13th from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Mark your calendars for this fun family night! As well as the traditional gingerbread house decorating, there will be a photo opportunity, and baked goods/refreshments. We are in need of volunteers for decorating after school the week of the event as well as helping the day of, with set-up and clean-up. It takes many hands to pull off this wonderful family night! To volunteer, please contact Jean Buelna-Pastor at (503) 784-1457 or keck_buelna@hotmail.com.
Once again this year we are asking for candy donations from families. We will use this candy to make up baggies of candy that will be for sale the night of the event for those who forget to bring their own. We need nut free holiday candy that is appropriate for decorating gingerbread houses (i.e. gumdrops, jelly beans, M&Ms, etc.). Students can bring in the bags of candy until December 11th and give them to their teacher.
We are asking for donations of either store bought or homemade baked goods. For safety due to allergies, we ask that all treats be nut free. Please drop off donations at the school office anytime on December 13th.
BRRR – IT’S COLDER!
Please remember that our days have gotten cold again and students need to have coats before school, after school and for outdoor recess times. They enjoy their outdoor time a lot more when they are dressed appropriately.
Conference Follow Up
As you know, we have recently completed our fall parent-teacher conferences. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we continue a strong home-to-school connection to best support your child’s social and academic growth.
After Conferences:
- Follow up on any plan of action agreed upon by you, your child’s teacher and your child.
- Stay in touch with the teacher. You may send a note, email or leave a message on the teacher’s phone with any questions that you have later this school year.
- Review and discuss what was said during the conference with your child more than once.
- Be sure to celebrate any successes and positive comments the teacher shared.
- Use this as a chance to praise your child!
- If you have not scheduled and attended a conference, please do so soon. Our goal is that we meet with every child’s parents or guardians.
All of your support at home can make the difference between a good school year and a GREAT school year for you and your child. Thank you for all of your continued support for your students and our teachers!
