The Weekly Update

Springfield Twp MS - Season 6, Episode 3 - Sep 16

From the Principals

Don't forget Unity Day, Thursday, September 22. Last year, STMS began this tradition in order to demonstrate - in a fun way - that each of our students has value to add to the community and that - if we recognize everyone's strengths we will be stronger for it. This year's Unity Day theme is "Show Your Spartan Pride." Students will participate with their homerooms in a variety of challenges: physical, academic, artistic, musical, and - well - silly! The only rule is that every student in the building must participate in one of our homeroom challenges. On Unity Day students should wear the color their homeroom has been assigned. Our hope is that our students and staff are excited about Unity Day - we'll send pictures with next week's eBlast!

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month between September 15 and October 15. We celebrate HHM during this time because September 15 marks the independence of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. The Independence Days of Mexico and Chile also happen within that time frame. At SMS we are working to create a display in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, and our library had curated a special book collection for the month. We encourage all teachers to celebrate our diverse population during Hispanic Heritage Month and throughout the year. This year's HHM theme is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.
