Grandparents and Grand friends Day
Day 1 of Grandparents and Grand friends day was a huge success. We had more than 140 visitors including one set of grandparents that drove 225 miles to be here for this event with their grandson. We were featured in The State paper on yesterday and are scheduled to have a segment on WLTX News 19 during the 11 pm edition on Sunday, September 8.
Tons of thanks to our outstanding PTO board members and volunteers for organizing this event. Additional thanks to our custodial staff, cafeteria staff, front office, and homeroom teachers. If I have omitted any please let me know and we will rectify it.
Day 2 of Grandparents and Grand friends day will be held Monday, September 9 during lunch. Just a reminder to utilize parking in the rear of the school to accommodate our visitors.
Arts in Education Week
This week is Arts in Education Week. C. Catoe will share information with our student body and faculty and staff during the morning show this week.
Transition Team Meetings
Last year our district created transition team (reps) from each school. These reps attend professional development sessions four times during the school year to receive training on implementation of our new state standards. The reps then share this information and strategies with their respective grade level teams.
Our school transition team members include K. Claytor, J. Sparkman, H. Wessinger, P. Bowles, S. Sazehn, H. Mims, M. Drayton, and K. Caley.
District transition teams will meet this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Mrs. Poore will attend sessions with our K/1st reps on Monday...so please notify me should you need assistance with a student. I will attend sessions with our 2nd/3rd reps on Tuesday...please see Mrs. Poore should you need assistance. Dr. Somerall will attend sessions with our 4th/5th reps
More details are forthcoming for our certified staff.
Tuesday, September 10 certified staff will meet in the mini theatre at 3:15. Our focus on 2nd Tuesday's will be the inquiry process. Inquiry will be a corner stone of our magnet program.
We have partnered with one of our local boy scout troops in our community. Our school will serve as a host site for them this year with the first meeting being held this Thursday from 6pm-7pm in the mini theatre.
Elementary School Spirit NIght
The annual elementary school spirit night at Dutch Fork High will be held this Friday as the Silver Foxes take on Rock Hill High School beginning at 7:30. Last year we had the second most students in attendance. We are looking to take that number one spot.
District Honor Choir
DFES will host a district honor choir event (led by M. Rushe) this Saturday from 9:00 am - 1pm. The building will be accessible for those interested.
Happy Birthday Wishes!
