Challenges Families Face

Oftentimes problems arise within families while making decisions with regards to a loved ones funeral. We at Eternal Rest Funeral Home can help. Not only can we provide any of the services your family needs, we also offer counseling and support for the entire family to guide everyone through this troubling time. Some common issues that families may face include deciding who will make the arrangements, who will pay for them, disputes over what should be said in the obituary, and arguments regarding particular choices made for the funeral (Your Tribute, 2011). The stress involved with handling a loved ones affairs added to grief can be the perfect storm for trouble to brew. Our directors are trained to assist with these issues in a professional and courteous manner.

Controlling Costs

Sometimes challenges arise paying for funeral expenses, especially when a death is unexpected. A traditional funeral can add up to tens of thousands of dollars placing a heavy drain on finances. One must consider the cost of embalming, caskets, flowers, memorial services, cemetery plots, headstones, not to mention stationary, enlarged photographs with frames, or refreshments when planning a funeral (Your Tribute, n.d.). At Eternal Rest Funeral Home we have a couple options for when budget considerations are of utmost importance. When an elaborate funeral is not possible, our more simple services can take care of your departed loved one efficiently. These cost saving selections exclude funeral or memorial services.

  • Direct Cremation is the least expensive option for those on a budget. Direct cremation includes transportation to the crematorium, and you will receive the ashes in a simple cardboard box within two weeks.
  • Direct Burial is another cost saving option. Transportation is included along with a simple casket. Embalming and viewing are not available with this option, and cemetery plots must be purchased separately. Cultural Perspectives

Religion and culture are an important component of funeral planning. Complications can arise when people from differing cultures must plan a funeral. Some may believe in cremation while others strongly oppose it. Some religions have restrictions and guidelines as to what can be done with a body in certain periods of time following death (Hazell, n.d.). We have experience handling funerals for people of many faiths and cultures, and more people are choosing multi-cultural and cross-cultural funerals in order to compromise and satisfy the beliefs of the diverse family (Hazell, n.d). At Eternal Rest Funeral Home we strive to perform every funeral and memorial service in a manner that satisfies the beliefs and traditions of the individual and the family.
